CLOSE AND PERSONAL
“Lisa! Lisa, wake up. Oh my god!” Lisa heard a distant voice but she could barely open her eyes. A splitting headache made her wince as she struggled to move. Aches and pains shot all over her body. A huge painful bruise had developed around her cheek. Her legs were bruised from the blows she had taken.
Strong hands wrapped around her waist. “Can you stand?”
Lisa opened her eyes but the light intensified her headache.
Katie.
Katie was here to help. Lisa managed to stand, but her legs were unsteady and wobbly.
She leaned into Katie. Together, they managed to walk to Lisa’s car nearby. Each step sent waves of pain through her body. The air chilled her flushed cheeks.
They sat inside the car with the doors locked.
“Sit back and take a breath,” Katie said
