CHAPTER 20 CONFLICT Spring in November arrived, and Lisa had a bounce in her step as she strolled along the cracked footpath in Carlton, thinking about her meeting with Johnson. She heard a whistle and turned to look behind her but saw no-one. The whistle sounded close by. Probably some cheerful person out for a walk like her. Lisa savoured the sun’s rays warming her cheeks and the gentle wind caressing her bare arms. She was wearing a t-shirt and skinny jeans, and adorned her arms with coloured bangles and a gold bracelet. The hum of patrons sitting inside the Italian restaurants she passed by created a pleasant mood.
