Chapter 25“Emma? We have a problem.” Emma twists around in her seat and looks at the clock on the wall above the kitchen sink. It’s almost 10:30, which means the Log Cabin class she’s signed up for at the Sewing Room starts in thirty minutes. She’s busy trying to solve her own problems — how to become a better quilter is at the top of today’s agenda, followed by helping Sarah find more vintage toys for her centennial pageant presentation — and quite frankly she’s not sure she has the time or the energy for anyone else’s. Still, she hasn’t talked to Barbara in over a week, so she does her best to sound cheerful.
“You’re back! How was your visit with the specialist?” Emma rises and takes her coffee cup and the carton of half and half over to the counter, using her shoulder to pin the phone
