Chapter 26On Thursday morning, Emma is lounging on the couch with a Pottery Barn catalog when the doorbell buzzes its imperious buzz. She’s made plans to meet her realtor, Shana, at Helen’s at eleven; is it possible Shana thinks they’re meeting here instead? Emma sighs. She thought she had forty-five minutes before she had to explain how life in the mountains isn’t working out for her family, forty-five minutes she planned to spend pretending she could afford sectional sofas that cost as much as a semester at a good state college.
