Chapter 27Emma has known a lot of mean girls, and the funny thing is, Christine McCrae is not the meanest girl on her list. That honor would most likely go to Stephanie Scopes in seventh grade, who regularly threatened to make Emma drink toilet water if she didn’t let Stephanie copy her homework. Most of the mean girls Emma has known over the years never resorted to threats of physical violence. They preferred to tear you apart emotionally, usually on the sly, passing around slam books and starting whispering campaigns about how you desperately needed to use deodorant. On the whole, she preferred Stephanie’s tactics, which were honest and straightforward, even if they made Emma’s stomach hurt.
