The first thing I heard was the beeping sounds of machines, not an unfamiliar sound to my ears. I have been hospitalized several times this past year. I slowly opened my eyes, and Jay was there in the chair beside me, like all the other times.
I hope this will not become a routine in our marriage because I can't imagine having him endure this for a lifetime. Even if he willingly does, I wouldn't want him to survive it.
