A Fresh Start
Angel
I'm on the waves with my best friend and Co-Captain Skylar. I was gifted my parents' boat, formally known as "Worldly Knowledge", which is now "Skullfully Yours". They retired to an island and left me less than half the crew. We are on our way to port to stock up on inventory and hopefully more crew.
"Land ahead". Skylar commented as we approached the dock. I nodded and sent the signals for the actions required to bring her in to port. Once landed, the crew fanned out while Skylar watched after the boat. I myself went into town to find out information. I needed to know all I could about the "Crown of the King". I already know it's not the true crown, it is just the ruby that was stolen off of the top of it, but they refuse to wear the crown until it is returned.
As I am technically a new pirate, as my co-captain is too, we need to make a name for ourselves. As it is, it's going to be hard getting a new crew. I pulled back the curtain that was in my way as I stepped into the compound. A few locals looked in my direction, nodded and went about their business. My eyes traveled along the stalls of goods until I found the one selling weapons. They always have the juiciest gossip. The shopkeeper looks me over and decides I am not a threat. "Can I help you, miss?" He asked. "Only if you have some information that I am in the market for." I replied. His head turned to see that none was watching the exchange. He leaned in and asked me which poison I was after.
One bag of change shorter but a little smarter, I walked back to the ship. I found a stall selling nailpolish, so I bought the black one, as Skylar and I love the color, and continued back to the ship. The ship next to us was almost finished boarding, so the crowd I had seen on the way out was almost completely gone by the time I had come back. I grabbed a rope to my ship when their crewmate yelled up to the captain "All's aboard.". They pulled away from port and I watched, in awe, as we would be doing that soon.

Another drunken night on the Ghost, my crew favor these nights. We just drift in the ocean and see where we end up. Being the world's most feared ship has its perks. Everyone is too scared to mess with us even as tanked as we have gotten. My first mate, Rex, is nursing his hangover with a cup of coffee. I am just glad that I hadn't gotten that smashed and am a bit more spritely than him. I walk around waking the crew so we can re-coordinate where we are. We were going to have to dock soon to resupply the ship. The men were getting sick of just fish and salted seaweed.
The men aren't fond of fighting and getting blood all over the ship, so friendly sparing is getting tiring too. We need a good ol' fashion fight club. John, of course, is excited about getting some fresh meat onboard as we are one person short. My attention snaps to the stairway as Rex approaches me. "Hey man, they found another body at the port we planned on crashing at. Do you want to continue forward or risk the Fuzz?" "We aren't hiding anything on this trip so we can pull up." I responded. With a nod, he headed down to the deck to let them know.
I hate yelling if I don't have to. Hell, I don't even like the attention I get from talking. My voice is deep and the last woman I stood next to basically wet herself when I spoke. That was awkward. Thankfully, Rex doesn't shut up. The guy loves to hear himself talk, so we measure out well. Grey walked out on deck and signed that the chef was ready for when we were. I grabbed the map and made my way inside to where the meeting meal was held.

Skylar and I were painting our nails when Jen knocked on my cabin. "Enter" Skylar thundered. I gave her a look like 'you know this is my room, right?' She just smiled at me as Jen approached. "Tomorrow we will have a clear sky and we should take it as they are predicting a big storm rolling through soon." Jen reported. Skylar looked at me and I looked at her. We had an entire conversation just looking at each other. Skylar jumped up and they left my room to make sure everyone was aboard.
I walked over to my desk and picked up the message in a bottle. I emptied the contents into my hand and read the message again. (You must find the Crown of the King to rule the seas) and on the back the coordinates for where they believed the ruby to last be seen. This bottle I had found in the water just floating in the ocean like it was fate that I was the one to find it. My parents had mentioned the ruby but as a bedtime story. To find an actual paper felt like destiny said to chase this one.
Out on the deck, Skylar was directing the returning crewmates and welcoming the new ones. Patches was sewing up one of the sails getting us ready to leave asap. Eve was moving the barrels for the cook from the deck to the galley. Sam showed the newcomers their bunks and trunks. Angel walked up to the wheelhouse and watched the crew scrambling to get ready for the dark to take hold.
Angel tried to make a rule that no member was to be out at night, as they were all women. She had to keep them safe no matter what. When the sun went down her ladies would not be safe roaming around. They pulled the board up in the gangway, which was as good as locking a car, when the last member boarded.
The next morning, they pulled up the ropes and left for the next port. They needed at least two more crewmates if they were going to be able to pull the stunt they were hoping to do. Skullfully Yours was on its way to the next port and the women couldn't have been more excited about the adventure.

Pulled up to port and the men seemed to have ants in their pants. They could not wait to land in port and 'stretch their legs', as we call it. As for me, I couldn't wait to get to the fight club. I have a lot to be angry about and couldn't wait to get a session of my kind of therapy going. We get the ship tied to our assigned spot and the crew pours out.
Rex and I take different allies to get to the fight club, he sits with the spectators and bets on me while I go center stage and challenge whoever they have lined up. The club loves it when I show up as I bring a crowd and they eat up all the action I bring as I haven't lost a fight yet. The max matches for the night is five and just like that, I won all of them. I ducked out after collecting my winnings and Rex left after the next match so they wouldn't connect us.
I found a stall selling weapons and asked if they had any belladonna. The guy leans in and informs me the "Crown of the King" is becoming more and more popular as it had been spotted nearby. I drop a small sack of coins for the paper he slides me, with the coordinates. I walked back to the ship to clean the blood off me.
I went into my cabin and collapsed. I opened the window near my bed and signaled Grey to keep an eye out for Rex. It has been a long day and sleep claimed me fast.
