CHAPTER 6: Werewolves

CHAPTER 6: Werewolves She was pregnant. I kept on telling myself that fact while looking at Terra who was all ears to Finn’s words. “Is she pregnant?” “The Luna?” I shrugged. “Maybe. That’s a good news, if ever.” “No, not her.” “Then, who are you referring to?” bulong ko sa kaniya. He nodded his head into Terra’s direction. “The Delta, your friend.” I pursed my lips and looked at the same direction. Umiling ako. “You’re wrong.” “For a lead warrior, you are somehow good at lying,” he commented with a smirk. I rolled my eyes. “Give me five reasons why you jumped into that conclusion.” He shook his head in amusement. “Give me five reasons why I should give you five reasons of how I came into such thought.” I showed him my fingers and spoke. “First, you are an asshole—” “I am not.” “Second, you almost killed me—” “I didn’t. I just choke you, bitch.” “Third, you claimed me as your property, you freaking jerk—” “I know that’s wrong. I would remind myself to do something to really claim you as mine.” “Fourth, you called me b***h—” “I am certain you’re a bitch.” “And fifth, but definitely not the least”—I smiled widely—“you are an asshole.” He laughed inwardly. “I could kill you right now. You must be aware of that fact.” I maintained my wide smile. “You are not a monster,” I answered, saying his exact words. “People could change,” sagot niya. “I could change right here, right now, and kill you right on the spot.” I huffed. “I am not a lead warrior for nothing.” I pointed my forefinger to him. “And, stop cutting my words, will you? I am in a higher position.” “Well, I am an Epsilon.” My eyebrow shot up. “An Epsilon, still an omega of Alnwick pack.” Silver became an official part of our pack by proving himself worthy. He and Finn—both Epsilons—had a duel, and the Elders decided. He growled, and I did the same. “Bitch.” “Asshole.” The door opened, and Finn entered the hall. The meeting started. “They will attack on the first night of the full moon,” panimula ni Silver. “I believed you were one of their strong members. What happened? Why did they let you go?” tanong ni Goldwyn, ang nakaka-intimidate na Delta. “Someone like you, an Epsilon, would be a great asset in a pack.” Silver’s eyes found its way to me. He flashed off a smirk because of the compliment. “I don’t like their greediness. The meeting continued about the reports. I was listening the whole time, especially when it was our Alpha, Finn, speaking. “What are you talking about?” “You can’t love the Alpha. He has his Luna. He will always be destined to Luna”—he paused— “but he loves your friend, and you love him.” I let out a long, deep sound and glared at him. “Napakarami mong alam. Ang iba ay purong opinyon lang naman.” “It’s an observation, but it could be true,” he shot back. “You kn—” He cut me off and explained himself. “First reason, she held her stomach frequently and caressed it with a dreamy look. Second, her bump was kind of obvious. Third, I saw her vomiting once and is sensitive to some smell and food. Fourth reason, she looked differently to the pups. Fifth, your face gave it away.” I didn’t expect it. “Whatever you are thinking about me, about us, keep it to yourself, and you will know someday that you are wrong.” He doesn’t have to know. “You know a lot,” I whispered to myself, but he heard it. “I know more than what you think I know,” he told me. “There are pure wolves and werewolves like us. Our existence, werewolves carrying human blood, is a myth the humans believed. There are some like us who preferred civilization and blended well with humans, leaving their true nature. They study, party in the clubs, play outdoor games, and marry a pure-blooded human.” “And one day, like any other werewolf, we will leave this kind of life. We will soonly leave the nature, the hunger for animals’ meat.” “That’s... impossible.” “It is not,” he replied. “We are wolves. We are humans. We are werewolves.” #
