Daddy did not intend to let me preach again. People from church asked him about it, and he would make some excuse like he wanted me to have a better understanding of the Bible first, and he wanted more time to train me in the Word at home. Sometimes he would say that he wanted me to mature into my gift. I knew he thought I was not worthy of the pulpit because of what I did with Lynetta in church. The congregation, so far as I could tell, never knew about that, and I knew there was no way Daddy was ever going to tell about it. If anyone knew, it would have been from something Mr. Jacobs might have told someone.
