Chapter 19: Defeat

907 Words
"How did you get that scar?"   Jessica was lying down in bed, naked and sweaty. Roger had just ravaged her mind, body, and soul, and she was still high on it. She had been feeling hot – too hot, so she threw away the covers to the side, exposing her naked body. She hesitated but shrugged her shoulders. Roger had seen her naked many times already. However, when he asked the question, Jessica slowly went deeper into the covers to hide her scar.   Damn it! She had forgotten about her C-section scar. How could she be so stupid? Of course, he would notice!   "Um…I had Appendicitis surgery!" Jessica quickly replied, hoping it would pacify him. She then sat up and looked around for her clothes. Why was he so curious? Why did he have to notice everything about her?      Roger doubted her words. He had checked on the Internet that the incision of appendicitis operation was not the same as that of caesarean section, and the length was also not the same. But her firm attitude made him believe her.    "You'd better not be lying to me." Roger got out of bed naked and walked to the bathroom with no shame.   If it was any other instance, Jessica would have full-on ogled his behind, the strong muscles moving with each step. However, his last words to her sent a shiver down her spine. She felt guilty lying to him, but what could she say? Oh, and by the way, you have a son? No, she could not tell him, she would never tell him if it was up to her.     Jessica thought back to when little Evan had asked about her father. Tears had come in her eyes when he questioned why he had no father while all his other classmates did. Thinking at this age, Evan would not remember, she had shown him a picture of Roger from the Internet. Evan had stared in awe and wonder and had started talking to the picture as if he was sitting in front of him. Jessica had cried that night.      Jessica was still sitting on the bed, deep in thought, when Roger walked out of the bathroom, freshly showered. He was surprised to see her sitting there, thinking she would have left by now. "Why haven't you left?" Jessica frowned, he really had a way with words, didn't he? "Make up your mind. Sometimes you tell me I am your wife and I can't leave, and now you're asking me why I haven't left?"   "Hey, if you don't want to, be my guest! We can have another…" His eyes traveled over Jessica's body. "Session…" Roger smiled wickedly.       Jessica rolled her eyes. "No, thank you." She stood up and started putting on her clothes and grabbed her things. As she finished, she turned around towards Roger, who was staring at her quietly. An awkward silence fell over them. What do you say when the man you hate happens to be your husband and whom you happen to f**k many times in the past few days? And add the fact that he was the father of her child.   "So, I'll be going, I guess…" Jessica slowly spoke. Though she still hated him, her heart had softened towards him, and she was not sure why. Roger shrugged and nodded. "Alright, then, bye…" She awkwardly replied and turned around. Roger suddenly stopped her, "Wait!" A sudden emotion of hope flared up inside, and she berated herself. What are you hoping for, Jessica? That he is going to take you into his arms, apologize for everything, and you guys would be a happy little family? Oh, you forgot the fact that he did not know yet about his three-year-old carbon copy.     "Yes?" Jessica turned around, looking at him expectantly.  He threw a bunch of money towards her and said coldly, "Here's your tip for tonight."   Jessica stood stock still and stared at the money at her feet. She was in shock, in complete disbelief. What? Was he throwing money at her as if she was a w***e? She cursed herself as tears started to pool in her eyes. No, Jessica! You will NOT cry! You will NOT give him satisfaction. You will be strong! However, all her strong words fell to deaf ears. She shivered as the tears left her eyes and trailed down her cheeks. It is what he thought of her? That she was doing this for s*x and lust?   Her shoulders sighed in defeat. Maybe she should give up because he had won. He had defeated her, humiliated her in the worst way possible. Jessica could not face Roger and let him see how she felt, so she turned around and simply walked out the door without a word.   Roger was confused. He had expected Jessica to yell, scream, and curse at him. But she had done the opposite. He frowned as he stared at the bills on the ground. She had not even looked up. He ran a hand through his hair as he remembered her shoulders had been slightly shaking as if she was trying to control her tears.   Shit!   He did not mean to make her cry; he was only just trying to get a reaction out of her.   Roger sighed and walked to his bed, lying down tiredly, his thoughts swimming with making Jessica Brown cry.
