CHAPTER 40 “Yesunim-ui guwon.” I open my eyes at the strange sound. Someone is talking in one of the other cells. It’s a woman, and judging by the cracks in her voice, she’s just as old as my Grandma Lucy or even older. “Yesunim-ui guwon.” She’s repeating the same phrases over and over, each time with even more passion and intensity in her tone. I’ve never heard the words before, but there’s something familiar about the way she speaks them. I have no idea what time it is, but since I’m not horrifically tired and the electricity still hasn’t been turned on I guess it’s early morning, just before sunrise.
