Sonia was immersed in what she was doing, she didn't hear the knock on her door until it came again, a little louder this time.Sonia blew out a breath. now what? her life was measured in fifteen minutes increment. it was twelve twenty. she had ten more minutes before Sam new client showed up. Come in Mary, she called out without raising her head from typing, not wanting to loose her pace, she didn't look up, i will be with you in a minute. I just need to finish this before my brothers cast off arrived. Sonia heard the door open and closed. she typed the final line. There, done, she declared triumphantly. looking up, Sonia was startled to see an incredibly looking man in a custom tailored suit. Moreover, he was sitting in front of her desk, smiling at her. How .. and when ... had that happened? "Hello" she said uncertainly. Hi when he didn't say anything else, she asked "And you are"? The smile on his lips deepened just a little, "Your brother's cast off, i believe." oh God, why hadn't she looked up when she heard the knock? and what was Mary doing, allowing clients to wander around by themselves? The woman was practically a fixture in the office ever since her father hired her, but that was no excuse to let a client just walk in. Ian Wilson? she guessed. The man inclined his head, " The very same." Damage control. she cleared her throat. of course i mean castoff in the best possible sense of the word regarding castoffs. I'm so sorry, I ....." Sonia could feel the rush of color coming up to her cheeks. Blushing was one of the things her father used to upbraid her for, telling her she'd never make a good lawyer as long as she has that flaw. she'd thought that she has conquered it. Obviously she was having a relapse. Sonia rose to her feet, excuse me, she said to Ian as she passes him, striding out of her office. from the corner of her eye, she saw her brothers twelve thirty appointment rose to his feet, to leave as well. but when she opened the door again a beat later, Ian Wilson was still standing right where she'd left him, looking somewhat bewildered as he stared at the door. With purposeful, confident stride, Sonia reentered the office, walked up to Sam client and extended her hand to him. "Hello I'm Sonia Bennett". She saw the uncertain expression on the man's handsome face deepen. she could almost guess what he was thinking. Smiling sincerely she said, this is called first impression, take two. for a moment she thought he was going to walk out. The sound of Ian Wilson deep laughter told Sonia that he had decided to stay. She released a deep breath she had not realized until now that she'd been holding.
