Chapter 3

Kate's POV

The smell was waking me up. It got so strong like it was closer than before. It smelled amazing.

'Mate'    I heard in my head

'Ahhh!...Wh,Who's there? Why are you in my head?'    I said in a panicked tone.

'Oh, sorry, I forgot you don't remember me. I'm Joule, your wolf. And since we're in human form I'm in your head. That reminds me, I've been in here too long. I want to get out but first, I want to meet our mate....So wake up, wake up wake up.'    she sounded happy and excited. I tried to continue talking and asking questions, but I couldn't hear her anymore, so I decided to listen to her and wake up. Maybe thinking I was going crazy and imagining things.

When I opened my eyes, they were met with a pair of hazel brown eyes with little green specs in them. We stared at each other for a long time. At least that’s what it felt like. He was hot. Tall, toned, pale- ish skin, and had dark black hair. He was the most beautiful man I have ever seen. Then I realized I didn't even know him and broke off the stare.

He opened his mouth to talk but I wanted to introduce myself because well, he did just catch me eating his snacks and sleeping on his bed, so I hold my hand up to say I want to talk first.

I guess he got offended because his jaw clenches and next thing I know, I'm against the wall.

"How dare you shush me." He said with anger and to be honest it wasn't intimidating; it was just hot.

"Look I didn't mean to shush you or be rude. I just wanted to introduce myself and explain why I used your bed and ate your snacks. Actually, I don't have an explanation I guess you can say I was just tired, and I haven't been in this place for a while, so I guess it has a new owner. Oh, sorry I'm Kate by the way." By the end he didn't look mad but amused. I extended my arm to shake his hand and when our hands met there were sparks. That's when I thought about fate and love at first sight.

I then continued talking because he never did.

"Sorry for invading your space. I'll go find somewhere else to stay, bye, see you around I guess...uhhh...you are?" he stared for a while longer and then snapped out of it.

"Oh sorry, I’m Liam Michaels."

Liam's POV

So, it was her that found this place. I wonder when. She kind of talks a lot buts its cute. Wait what am I thinking. She has to go this is my land and she is trespassing.

"...you are?" s**t I guess I've been standing here like an i***t.

"Oh sorry, I'm Liam Michaels."

I can't find it in me to tell her to leave. I want her to stay.

"OK, well Liam, it was nice meeting you, but I think I should be heading out now. Since I have to find a place to stay. I hope the hotels are not too busy." She mostly mumbled the last part to herself.

"Were you planning on sleeping here?" Why would she sleep here? Is she out of money? Is she in trouble with anyone?

"Well yeah, but it’s yours now." She laughed slightly and it was like I was hearing a beautiful melody that made me want to hear it forever.

"You know when I left, I didn't want anyone to find this place, but I knew I was being selfish. This place is so peaceful and beautiful. It helped me for years and I'm glad it was found by someone. I don't know what it is, but it's like I have known you for years, and I see that this cave has helped you a lot too so I'm glad."  She had a smile on her face that lit up the room. I wanted to tell her that she was my mate but I my fear won the battle once again. The mate bond was affecting her.

"You know I have a house near here that you can stay in for a while, if you want?" What came out of my mouth shocked me and I guess she noticed because she smiled at me at said.

"It's OK, I can find somewhere else to go. You don't have to open your house up to a stranger. I think I can manage." Once she finished, she grabbed her things and headed out. I had to fight the urge to grab her arm to stop her.

Once she was out, her scent was faint and I missed her already, so I ran out only to find her already gone. How long did, I think for?

I start sniffing the air and that's when it hit me.

A rogue was near the border and I don't know where she was. I started to panic and then I heard my wolf.

'Don't just stand there like an i***t, try finding her scent'     Jake yelled at me with anger.

'I'm trying mutt'    was all I responded before I cut him off and mind linked James my beta to come with a few warriors. He obeyed and was on his way the next minute with everyone.

When I found her scent, I wasted no time, I shifted, and started running the faster than I've ever ran. Then I heard her scream pierce my ears and my heart felt heavy. I ran faster and stopped when I saw her. She was leaning her fragile and petite body against a tree. Her leg was bleeding, and I felt my blood boil. How dare that stupid rogue hurt her.

She looked scared. Then she said in a panicked tone     "Please, leave me alone. I don't want to accidentally hurt you. Please." I'm now confused she wasn't afraid of him but of hurting him. And how would she even do anything she's human?

The rogue's chuckles broke my train of thought. "You think a mere human like you can hurt me. I'm not just any rogue, I'm a rogue born of alpha blood. What can u do." amusement clear in his voice.

I growled to make my presence known. I turned to my mate and saw both relief and fear in her eyes.
