CHAPTER 6 Three men stood in front of a pile of rubble blocking the compacted dirt road into town. All appeared to be in their late thirties to early forties. Chaco studied their faces and their positions. The thin one with a black beard wore a pair of dirty jeans and a stained t-shirt. He aimed a Remington 798 at Chaco’s face. Another, a heavy-set blond with a gut hanging at least eight inches over his belt buckle, aimed an AR-15. The third, a bald man with a pink baby face appeared unarmed except for a fixed blade survival knife stuck in a sheath strapped to one leg.
