"You are nothing more than a broken, useless burden. I, Alpha Kaelen, reject you as my mate."

Chapter 1: The Blood Moon Betrayal
The howling wind carried sharp, biting ice crystals, stripping the withered branches of the Crimson Moon Forest and forcing out sounds that resembled a dying beast's final, agonizing cries. Tonight should have been the most sacred night for the Blood Moon werewolf pack—the coming-of-age ceremony and the sacred Mate Bonding Grand Rite. Inside the sprawling Silverfrost Hall, brilliant white moonstones embedded in the soaring dome cast a dazzling, daylight-like radiance across the polished floors. The air was heavy with the rich scents of roasted meat, aged honey mead, and the hot, surging energy of youthful blood boiling within the veins of hundreds of gathered pack members. Elena Stone stood deep within the hall's shadows, her thin, delicate gown utterly defenseless against the biting chill seeping through the stone walls. Yet, the cold gripping her exterior was nothing compared to the frozen void hollowed out inside her chest. Her fingers clenched tightly around a worn silver necklace left behind by her mother, her knuckles turning stark, bloodless white from the sheer pressure. "Elena, did you genuinely believe Alpha Kaelen would ever choose you? Open your eyes and look around." The harsh, mocking voice shattered her final fragile shreds of hope. The speaker was Lillian, the arrogant daughter of the pack’s high elder. Draped in a thousand-dollar imported silk gown and adorned with a sapphire brooch signifying high aristocratic rank, Lillian looked down at Elena with undisguised contempt and condescension. Elena refused to turn her head, instead biting down hard on her lower lip until she tasted the metallic tang of blood. How could she not know? In the ruthless hierarchy of the Blood Moon pack, strength dictated everything. And she—during the awakening test on her eighteenth birthday—had suffered a catastrophic failure. Her inner wolf spirit had stubbornly refused to awaken, and the tests had branded her a once-in-a-century anomaly: a "dead vein," utterly incapable of gathering even a single shred of lupine energy. In a world governed by the law of the jungle, a useless outcast was worth less than a common slave, let alone worthy of standing beside the future Alpha as his destined mate. Suddenly, the heavy iron doors at the front of the grand hall swung wide open with a resounding boom. The entire hall fell instantly, suffocatingly silent. Every eye in the room snapped toward the entrance. Kaelen von Bloodmoon strode through the swirling snowstorm outside. Tall, athletic, and impeccably proportioned, his short silver-gray hair still dusted with melting snowflakes, he possessed a pair of sharp, predatory golden eyes that pierced through the dimness with crushing authority. As the pack's once-in-a-generation prodigy and undisputed future Alpha, his mere presence made the surrounding air feel thick and leaden, instinctively driving lower-ranking pack members to their knees in submission. Clinging tightly to his arm was Lady Aerith, the pampered and precious daughter of a neighboring allied pack. Standing side by side, they looked like a golden pair fashioned by the gods themselves—the very definition of a perfect match. Elena’s heart convulsed painfully, her boots seemingly nailed to the stone floor. She stared at the young man who, once upon a time amid a blinding snowstorm in the deep forest, had sworn to protect her with his life. Now, that same face wore an expression carved of absolute, unyielding ice, utterly shattering every illusion she had ever dared to hold. The musicians struck up a fresh melody, and the grand ceremony officially commenced. "By the ancient and binding pact of the Blood Moon pack," the High Priest's aged, resonant voice echoed through the vaulted hall, "tonight, our future Alpha Kaelen shall declare his lifelong mate before the ancestors." Every gaze naturally gravitated toward Elena—according to the binding betrothal set by the elders years ago, she was the one who belonged at the center of the dais. Kaelen lifted his chin, his cold golden irises sweeping lazily across the sea of faces before finally landing on Elena in the shadows. In that gaze, there was not a trace of warmth, only naked disgust, harsh judgment, and the chilling arrogance of a lord bestowing charity. He didn't even bother to walk toward her. Instead, before hundreds of pack members and visiting dignitaries, he raised his voice, flat, cruel, and absolute: "I, Kaelen von Bloodmoon, in my capacity as future Alpha, hereby formally declare the total annulment of all mating contracts and bonds with Elena Stone." Boom! A collective gasp swept through the hall like a sudden gale. Though whispers had circulated for days, hearing the rejection spoken aloud in public was the equivalent of grinding a young woman's dignity into the dirt and setting fire to what remained. Elena felt a violent, high-pitched ringing in her ears. All the whispering, the mocking laughter, and the vicious satisfaction of the crowd drove into her mind like jagged shards of glass. "Due to your utter lack of talent, depleted bloodline, and worthless constitution, you are entirely unfit to ever hold the title of the Blood Moon Alpha's wife," Kaelen stated, his voice as frigid and devoid of emotion as an eternal glacier. "In consideration of our past ties, the pack will grant you a worn-out mare and a meager purse of silver. Once this night passes, you will clear out of the core territory and never show your face here again." "How dare you!" Elena snapped her head up, a wild, desperate, and blinding fire igniting within her once-dull eyes. She locked her gaze onto Kaelen, her voice trembling with a fierce, unbreakable defiance: “Kaelen! Three years ago when the rogue hunters ambushed the border, who stood in front of you to block that fatal blade? Who nursed you through three days and nights in the freezing wilderness? And now, with a single excuse of 'worthless talent,' you intend to wipe away every single thing we shared and throw me out like garbage?!” The temperature in the grand hall seemed to plummet below zero. Lillian let out a sharp, grating snort of amusement. "A pathetic freak who couldn't even awaken a wolf spirit, yet dares to address the Alpha by his given name? Truly shameless!" Kaelen frowned slightly, a flicker of deep irritation crossing his golden eyes. He couldn't even be bothered to look at Elena a second longer, casually waving a dismissive hand. "Someone drag her out. Do not let a worthless parasite ruin the sanctity of this grand ceremony." Two massive, hulking werewolf guards grinned menacingly as they stepped forward, their iron-grip hands seizing Elena roughly by both arms. Their strength was like a vice, dragging her backward across the polished stone floor without a shred of mercy. “Let go of me! Kaelen, you will regret this! You will pay the ultimate price for your arrogance today!” Elena fought wildly, her heels carving desperate, screeching marks against the hard marble. She kept her eyes locked onto the towering figure on the dais, searing his merciless, cold features into the deepest recesses of her soul. Yet, the overwhelming gap in physical strength rendered her desperate struggle utterly futile. Amidst the heavy thud of the closing oak doors, the festive music inside the hall swelled once more, as if the person cast out into the cold was nothing more than an stray, insignificant cur. No one offered a shred of sympathy; in the brutal calculus of the wild, weakness was the ultimate crime. Out in the howling, snow-swept wasteland, Elena was violently tossed into the back of a creaking, shuddering cargo cart. The wooden wheels ground relentlessly over the frozen, jagged earth, hauling her toward the desolate, pitch-black exile zone. The biting wind slashed at her skin like tiny blades, but the agony tearing at her chest was far worse—it was the vicious, spiritual backlash of a shattered mating bond. The rejection curse tore through her soul, forcing a thick stream of dark crimson blood to spill past her lips, staining the front of her gown. “Cough, cough……” Elena curled into a tight ball amidst the freezing, damp straw as her consciousness began to fray and blur. In the distance, the eerie howls of low-tier predators echoed through the dark—scavengers drawn by the scent of fresh blood, closing in fast. “Is this truly... how my story ends?” Just as her mind hovered on the absolute precipice of darkness and her inner flame flickered toward extinction, the worn silver necklace resting against her chest suddenly erupted with an intense, blinding flash of deep blue moonlight. Instantly, a voice—cold, mechanical, yet echoing with the ancient weight of primordial creation—exploded without warning within the deepest chambers of her collapsing mind: “Critical physical collapse detected. Host life signs failing. Triggering mandatory bloodline override…” “Ancient Lunar Goddess System... initializing.” “10%… 50%… 100%.” “Host Awakening Reset: True Lunar Goddess Bloodline, successfully loaded.”
