12 Abigail sat back in her garden chair, listening to her sister and Maggie reminiscing about the old days in Memphis, back when Sara and Charlie had a house near them. She missed those days, when she used to pop round to Sara’s for a chat, or to let off steam if she’d had a row with Dan, which didn’t happen often. She remembered Sara telling her she was leaving Memphis like it was yesterday, the sense of hopelessness she felt. Charlie lost his job as head chef within a large hotel chain, and found an opening with a rival, but had to relocate the family to Chicago when Rachel was six years old. Telling Elise that they were leaving was the worst of it; her daughter and Rachel were almost as close as she was with Sara. Sitting quietly listening to Sara and Maggie, she smiled as Sara told
