Confrontation with the Light

                 The fatigue-stricken party sought shelter for the night. There were neither any towns nor any villages to be seen so they had to camp outside for the night. Everyone fell asleep as soon as they found a spot to spend the night. They were too tired to move. Their journey crossing a whole region and fighting off a dozen merpeople knights drained all their energy.

                 As the day ended and the night came, the sounds of nocturnal animals filled the air. Owls hooted, crickets chirped and other creatures made a sound. The bright full moon then showed itself. The night sky was clear. The stars danced with the universe and the moon sang with the darkness.

                 The party slept undisturbed. The peaceful night was a blessing from the gods, a grace given to them at a time when they needed it. They slumbered the night away recuperating and recovering their energy. They forgot all of their worries and troubles as they succumbed and surrendered to the kiss of slumber.

                 Time passed like the eternally changing change. The sun was high up when everyone woke up. As soon as they opened their eyes to the new foreign land, their stomachs rumbled. Thankfully, there were fruit trees nearby. With the help of Viethra’s magic, they were able to harvest and eat ripe fruits. They kept some for later meals.

                 Clueless and without any leads, they wandered through the hills and forests of Montiule. On the way, they sharpened each of their skills. Viethra was finally able to master the Chaos of Order spell. Myles improved his accuracy, speed, and the strength of his sword strikes. Mae combined aerobics and martial arts to her sword art to make up for her broken sword. She was not used to using only one sword but the opportunity gave her a chance to master a new technique. Lastly, Selena had the most improvement in the party. She composed songs and sonatas that can exponentially strengthen her allies and drastically weaken her enemies. These songs, however, are only potent for a very limited time and would only work once.

                 One day, as the party was walking through the forest, they accidentally encountered a great horde of creatures of darkness that were running towards them. However, the creatures continued running and acted as if the party never existed. They seemed like they were running something greatly and truly terrifying. Suddenly, a blinding flash lit the whole area.

                 Everyone was forced to close their eyes but even though they did they could still see the light shining bright. When it was all over, the creatures of darkness were gone. They disappeared without a trace. A whole horde vanished instantaneously from the face of Pristinia. Then, from the direction where the light originated, they felt something familiar.

                 The whole party rushed towards the origin ultimately proving their hunches. It was the battle angel who was pursuing them. He hated the creatures of decay as much as they do. The angel immediately felt their presence when they approached, but they were still able to launch a pre-emptive attack.

                 Mae and Myles rushed at the battle angel simultaneously Viethra used Growth Sap and Selena played a sonata which slowed down the angel. Mae’s attack was parried but Myles was able to land a blow that was able to damage the enemy’s armor. Giving no opportunity for a counterattack, Myles and Mae attacked again. Concurrently, Viethra, and Selena supported them. Viethra cast Nature Render and made the angel fight on three fronts. Selena played a song that boosted the rest of the party’s attack and speed.

                 They were too much for the angel, which made him use a point-blank attack that blew Myles and Mae away and destroyed Viethra’s spell. Alas! The angel could now launch a counterattack. He rushed towards Viethra and Selena who were defenseless without the other two. However, Myles was in the nick of time to defend against his attack. Mae followed and slashed at the angel from the back which injured his wing lessening the probability of an aerial battle.

                 The angel was distracted and turned to Mae. Myles took the opportunity and thrust his sword at the angel. He was able to pierce his armor but the sword’s affinity was similar to the angel which dealt minimal damage. At the same time, Viethra used Nature Bind and started to crush the enemy. Selena lessened Viethra’s casting time which made the Nature Bind spell take hold of the angel’s lower limbs in no time.

                 With his legs slowly being crushed, the angel took time in cutting the roots and vines which were bounding him. However, at the same time, Myles and Mae launched an attack. This time, they made sure that Myles would parry and Mae would deal the blow which worked. The angel parried Myles’ strike which created an opening for Mae dealing a powerful blow to the angel.

                 Viethra saw it as a chance to end the angel’s pursuit once and for all. She cast Chaos of Order which made the whole forest extend their reach. Roots and vines started growing. Even the branches of the trees extended and bound the angel. Eventually, a ball of roots, vines, and branches held the angel in place. And with a great clap, a pitch-black column of light as dark as night ascended from the ground to which annihilated the angel along with the vines, roots, and branches that wound him.

                 With the angel’s defeat, Mae knelt on the ground and plunged his sword on the ground. “Finally, I have avenged you brother.” Selena’s tears also started to fall from his eyes. She was glad and sad concurrently. The others comforted the two. They had a group hug which resulted in bright smiles and laughs moments after.

                 From the spot where the angel was slain were accessories that were imbued with the powers of light. They collected the accessories but never once thought of equipping them. Instead, they agreed to sell them for their journey.
