The sound of shattering glass echoed, fragments flying through the air like jagged rain. Amidst it all, a sickening grind filled the silence as the wreckage settled, metal scraping against the pavement in a harsh, final groan of defeat. Immediately all eyes shifted to the girl on the bicycle, people feeling pitiful in the sorrowful state she had been. She was lying on the ground, alive. Barely inches away, blinking, breathless but unscathed, staring wide-eyed at the chaos before her. Beside her was the madly speeding car who speed in from her left and pressed his accelerator quickly driving straight to Diana preventing her from the very deadly accident. Diana became really angry, this was the second time she almost collided into something. Why does her day had to begin like this? The car window was tinted thereby preventing Diana from seeing who was in it. Well, even though it was tinted, it didn’t stop crazy Diana from cursing the owner. She clenched her fists as she poses like someone who was ready to fight. "Hey you, do you want to kill me. What did I ever do to you, you asshole, what's wrong w...." She was still ranting when he began whining down the glass window slowly... He drove off his car as the uproar settles, There would be no need to reveal himself, especially when she looks like a troublesome person. He rolls up back, and he drives off. Diana scoffed. "You should have just let me see your face. You asshole!!" She cursed under her breath as she bent to pick up some of her credentials that scattered around. "He must have been intimidated by my actions, and he decided to run off. Scared cat." Diana said to herself, chuckling at her silly words. "Now, just see the stress that punk is making me go through. Thank your stars, I wasn't quick to note down your plate number." She mumbles grudgingly. She finished packing her stuffs and she then heads to the interview. She was really late, and most people had already been interviewed. She quickly rushes into the interview room. On her way in, she passed by Henderson, who was just heading out of the interviewing room. His nose caught a whiff of a familiar scent, and then he looked back. Henderson recognises her as the girl he saved that morning but ends up getting insults in return. Diana was too occupied to even notice Henderson as she ran straight to the interviewing room. She wasn't ready to risk failing this interview. Unfortunately, her name was among the first batch of applicants that had already been interviewed. She wasn't planning on giving up that easily. She suddenly barges into the interviewing room, where few of the board members were seated and they gazed at her in astonishment, wondering why she just barged in. "Pardon my manners, Mr." Diana said as she bowed to each of them respectfully. "What are you here for Miss? Your name hasn't being called yet." Mr. George--a middle-aged man with pot belly said. "Oh! You would have to go through your records well then." Diana suggested boldly as they stopped what they were doing to watch what was going on. "Are you the one to teach me my job?" Mr. George asked, poking his chest. Diana sighed as she took out her phone and showed them the email she was sent. "It clearly states here that I'm among the first batch and the first batch has being interviewed." She explains further. "It means you've missed the interview Miss. We always make sure we keep to time." Lucas explains in a gentleman's tone. "I didn't come late because I wanted to. It wasn't intentional." Diana said. "I'm sorry but there is nothing we can do about this. You've lost a golden opportunity." Mr. Williams said. All this while, Henderson was seated in his office, watching the scene through the CCTV camera in his office. It was planned that way so he could find an acting wife through the same process. Lucas had an earbud with him which Henderson planned on using to communicate with him in case he finds someone who could take up the position of acting as his wife. He wasn't interested in any of the ladies that had been interviewed so far, none of them seemed to suit his taste. "Bring down your ego, you need help!!" He screamed in his head and he sighs out. But there seemed to be something captivating about the lady who was standing there and expressing herself boldly not minding the scrutinizing eyes of the onlookers. "Can you at least hear my reason for coming late. It wasn't my fault you know." Diana muttered. Henderson narrows his gaze, getting a hint of what she actually wanted to say. "That wouldn't be necessary." "So, there was this crazy dude I met on my way here and he almost ran me over. I almost got into an accident so you can see it wasn't actually my fault." She narrates, cutting Lucas off. Henderson rubbed his temples frustratingly, he knew she was going to say that. There was something amusing about her but he couldn't fathom it. The rest stares at her in amusement. She was totally going crazy. Such guts!! "So, who is my interviewer?" She asked when neither of them refuses to say a word as they all stare at her dumbstruck. "Miss, you..." "Go on and get done with it." Henderson ordered Lucas, through the earbud. "Ok...let me see your CV." Lucas said and she smiled, handing him the file. Lucas went through it carefully, it wasn't an impressive CV, because of her qualifications. "I'm sorry....but your qualifications doesn't match the job you applied for." Lucas said, returning the file to her. "What!!" Diana blurted out. "But it was stated in the email letter sent to me that people with qualifications as this can still apply." Diana questioned, not willing to back down. "I'm sorry but that's just how it is." Lucas explains, expecting her to puff out and walk out her angrily but what she did next amazed him. She immediately fell on her knees to the amazement of the others present in the room, her hands clasped. "Please, I really need to get this job...I have responsibilities." Diana said in a pitiful state. Henderson shifts uncomfortably in his seat as he watched. What did she mean by responsibilities? 'I'm sorry but there's nothing we can do, use the door..." "Send her to my office now" Henderson voice boomed in Lucas's earbud, cutting him off. Lucas signals to one of Henderson's body guards who nods. "Come with us miss." One of them said to a confused Diana. "Where are you taking me too?" Diana asks sniffling. "The boss wants to see you" The guard whispers to her. She nods awkwardly as they left. She was led to Henderson's office as she knocks before entering. "I was told you wanted to see me." Diana mutters. "Take a seat." Henderson said, ushering her to a seat. For a moment, silence envelops the office entirely as Henderson thought of how to begin. Soon, he clears his throat, cutting through the silence. "I have a good paying job for you." Henderson said and Diana raises her head up in surprise, her mood brightening. "What can that be, sir?" Diana asks, staring at him. She couldn't deny how handsome he looked. She had never being so close to him as this in her life. He was really a true definition of a demi-god. His high collar cheek bones with well chiseled jaw line screamed manly and perfection. The next thing he said immediately jolts her from her thoughts, her eyes widening. Check the box at the front of you, Diana was wondering what could be in the box. Has this interviewer I left some minutes ago got my interview report printed and given it to their boss or what? Millions of thoughts coming to my mind.
