CHAPTER EIGHT Lauren had enjoyed church with Jeffrey, Vic, and Abby on Sunday morning. It was good for Jeffrey to be with the other kids and Lauren had been uplifted by the message. She was getting to know some of the congregation and had even seen the young woman who lived next door with the man who lived on the other side of her and an older woman. Were they dating, perhaps? If so, she wished them well. After church, she’d taken Jeffrey bowling. She wasn’t good at it and couldn’t teach him much, yet he enjoyed it and it worked off his energy.
