CHAPTER TEN
Krista’s mouth fell open when her mom balked at having Trent’s parents over on Christmas Day. She’d always been hospitable, so it wasn’t at all like her.
“Why won’t it work?” Krista asked.
“I’m too embarrassed to tell you.”
“I think you’d better since I’ve already invited them,” Krista said.
“Are you sure we can’t forget the whole thing?” her mom asked.
“No, Mom. We can’t”
“All right, but it’s not pretty.”
After a hesitation, Doris said, “We were in a quilting club together when we first moved here. There was a show and sale at the Civic Center.
