Chapter One - The Alley
This s**t is a masterpiece," I muttered to myself, Moonlight Sonata 3rd Movement blasting in my ears on my phone.
The alley stretched long and empty in front of me. Then I saw her — a girl running straight at me, oddly familiar, with two guys chasing her.
_Finally, something interesting is going to happen,_ I thought, a light smirk forming.
As she got close I grabbed her left hand and pulled her into my arms. It was Akita Suzuki, a classmate.
"Let go of me!" she said in Japanese.
"Don't worry," I replied in Japanese.
She was shaking, worn out from running. The thugs caught up, pulling out jackknives.
"Let the girl go," one commanded, pointing his knife at me.
"Huh? I don't understand. English please."
They looked at each other in disbelief.
"I said I don't understand a word you say, idiots!" I said in Japanese.
One lunged. "You'll regret calling me a fool."
"Stand aside!" I told Akita.
He swung. I weaved through each s***h, grabbed his wrist, and cracked him on the jaw.
"Pathetic," I said as he groveled on the ground.
"Not bad for a rookie," the other snickered. He was taller. He looked down at me, then — boom — a gut punch I didn't see coming. I doubled over.
"How is he this strong?" I thought.
"You're quite strong for a little boy. Join us and hand over the girl, I'll spare you."
I forced myself up. "So what you're saying is... you don't want the girl to go, even if I join?"
"Yes. What did you expect?"
I grinned despite the pain. "Well then... I'm gonna be honest. I ain't flowing with that shit."
He hit me in the face. I dropped to my knees, vision hazy. He grabbed my hair and slammed his fist into my face, over and over.
_Why? Why didn't I mind my own business like always? That's what kept me alive all these years._
_Is this it? Is this how I die? Such a pitiful death?_
Then I heard Akita sob. He walked toward her, his fist soaked in my blood. "Now it's your turn, b***h. We're gonna have a lot of fun tonight."
"Help! Somebody help!" Akita screamed.
I got up, staggering, ignoring the pain. I tapped his shoulder.
"Don't you ever learn?" he turned.
I punched him clean in the nose. He stumbled back, bleeding. "Seems like I'm gonna enjoy this fight."
I slammed my leg into his left ribs. c***k.
"You talk too much," I said as he fell.
I walked to Akita, offered her my hand. She took it. Then her eyes went wide, looking behind me. "Watch out!"
A sharp, intense pain in my back. The first thug had gotten up and plunged his jackknife into me. I spun and broke his nose with my elbow. He stared at me in terror and ran.
"This ain't the last of me, black boy!" he shouted.
CHAPTER ONE - THE ALLEY
"It's okay, let's go to a hospital," I said, carrying Akita on my back. My mother worked at one nearby.
"Aren't you hurt?" she asked.
"Don't talk!" I commanded.
We made it. In the lobby I saw my mom. "Please, she was stabbed in the thigh."
They took Akita away. Mom asked, "What happened?"
"She was... attacked by... thugs..." I replied. Then dizziness hit. And I passed out.
I woke up in total darkness. Buck naked. I walked forward, hoping for an exit. Then I saw a small light shimmering in the distance. I ran toward it. The closer I got, the bigger it became. But then I realized that, the light wasn't actually a light , it was a man in a full white suit.
He was walking towards me, hands in his pocket, eyes glowing gold , each step he took wasn't bold , it was controlled. After noticing this I pause , he walked with a presence.
It was somehow calm but teeth gnashing, soothing but disturbing, it was like being in the presence of a god . Out of fear I asked , " Who ? Who the heck are you?".
