The Book traveller’s odyssey

Malkah jumped in the puddle in front of her, splashing the dirty water on her mother's skirt. Exasperated her mother held her arm, pulling her out of the muddy mess, and scolding her. “You are going to mess up your school uniform.” She held her hand firmly until they arrived in front of the school building She pulled her closer to straighten her collar. “Now my love, remember to be a good girl at school. Listen to your teachers and don’t get up to mischief.” Malkah wasn’t paying attention to what her mother was saying, she watched as the other children rushed into the school building, eager to join them and play with her friends. “Ok, mama can I go now ?” Malkah replied in her little mischievous voice. “Wait my little princess , I love you very much,” her mother said as she planted the biggest kiss on her cheeks. “Mama” yelled Malkah impatient as she eagerly wanted to get to her class and see her friends Her mother smiled as she released her and watched her hurry into school. She stopped for a moment, smiled, and waved goodbye at her then continued into the school building. Tears fell from her eyes silently as she swallowed the sound that threatened to escape her throat. She turned around and walked away. 20 years later “ I can’t leave you behind, take my hand” Lily smiled, masking the pain that was very evident in her eyes. “ I’m so sorry Melech but you must go without me. Find Malkah she holds the key.” “ no!!!” The portal closed. Separating the two realms. A distraught Melech raised his eyes to take in the strange new world. He was in an alley way and there was a drunk man asleep at the corner. He picked up his bow and arrow and made his way out of the alley. His senses were heightened. This world was filled with strange looking things and sounds. He struggled to focus his senses. How would he ever find the little girl in this endless city. The buildings towered to the sky , strange machineries that carried people. He had read about this world in one of the books in the royal libraries and he wished he had came under better circumstances but alas the fate of his world rested in the shoulders of a young girl and the key she had which he must find. Melech was the shifter prince, desperate to save his kingdom from the evil usurper Ubong. Ubong was the banished librarian who had tempered with forbidden magic and brought darkness to the kingdom of Rozael. Melech’s father and mother were killed during the invasion as the last surviving member of the royal family he had been hunted and had to go on the run to save his life. Relying on the kindness of loyal citizens who had hoped that one day balance would be restored to the kingdom.
