BLURB

Rachel Everton felt betrayed after stumbling into her husband Lucas Thompson—CEO of Thompson's company—having an affair with his supposed ex-girlfriend Fiona.

She was still getting over the shock of the incident when she overheard Fiona on the phone discussing plainly the contraceptive she—Rachel—has been taking for years.

Betrayed by both her husband and his ex, Rachel decided to take the life-changing opportunity of the ambassadorial role of the Maple Brushes artwork, the biggest painting industry in the whole of Canada.

Rachel filed for divorce, signed the deal, and left for a different city.

But things took a drastic turn when she discovered she was having a baby.

Frustrated and still haunted by the betrayal, she decides to keep the baby a secret, not knowing it would only make Lucas want her back.

Chapter 1
Rachel's eyes widened as she watched the video of her husband Lucas and his ex-girlfriend Fiona for the hundredth time. She was on her way to the hospital for her last check-up before considering IVF but stopped halfway when she remembered she left the file Lucas requested she bring to his office after her doctor's appointment. She headed back home and took the file and was about to leave when she heard voices from upstairs. "Arr…rr…g…h, Lucas, tell me which you enjoy most: f**king your barren wife or me?” a female voice echoed through the hallway, making her stop in her tracks. She stood still in confusion, doubting if the voice was actually coming from her home. She knew Lucas was at his office when he gave her the call about the file. How come the voice mentioned his name? She decided to ignore whatever it was she heard and made to leave when her eyes caught a black female handbag lying on the bare floor in the stair. She moved closer, accessed the bag with her eyes, and confirmed it wasn’t hers. “F**k me so hard, Lucas," the voice came again. She retraced her steps back to the living room, dropped her car key and the file on the couch, and took the stairs. She got to the end of the stairs and took her right. "Lu…ca…sss…" the voice slowly moaned. And then she confirmed the direction of the voice. It was from the room adjacent to hers, and that is Lucas's room. She slowly tiptoed to the entrance of the room, and luckily, the door was slightly open. She strained her eyes in the multi-colored room and she felt her heart drop at what she saw. She saw clearly her husband Lucas pressing his ex-girlfriend Fiona onto the bed, roughly entering her from behind. Her naked body glowed under the multi-colored light that spilled all over the room. She cleared her eyelids with her palm in order to see clearly. Was this some kind of joke? Or was she dreaming? "Talk to me, Lucas. Do you prefer your useless wife or me?" Fiona murmured, softly grinding her hips against his. Rachel felt a pang in her chest. How could he? She screamed in her head. How could he tell his ex about her inability to give birth? They had planned not to say a word to outsiders. Lucas smirked, squeezing her hips tightly as he f**ked her roughly. “Don’t talk about Rachel that way; she is still my wife." “Ah! "Lucas!" Fiona gasped, her voice dripping in pleasure. “I can tell f*****g her doesn't feel this good.” Lucas ignored her and moved his hands to hold her breast, his hands found her n*****s and he squeezed it roughly. The soft moans from the room filled the air; each moan punctured harder on Rachel's already wounded heart. She clenched her fists so tightly that her fingers dug into her palm. She felt a bit relieved doing that because it saved her from barging into the room. Her hands trembled as she pulled her phone, she tried to keep her hand steady to record the scene properly. She gathered the last shred of courage and began recording. She made sure to capture every one of their movements—from Lucas' bed to the couch and finally to his reading table. “You are so sweet, Fiona." Lucas said, slapping her boobs and taking her n*****s into his mouth again. "I'm all yours, Lucas," Fiona cried out, her nails raking down his back. "Trust me, Lucas, I will make sure to have your child this time around.” The words struck Rachel like a punch. She staggered backwards, nearly dropping her phone. She turned and headed back to her car, collapsed on the seat, and watched the video again and again as tears slowly trickled down her cheeks. She dialed Aria's number, cleaning her eyes and clearing her throat to avoid Aria getting any hint that she was in tears. Aria has been her friend for two years now. She met her during one of the Thompsons' charity gala occasions. Aria is an average-class woman. Not too rich but not poor either. She believed Rachel was living the best life and had all the good things life has to offer—married to the Thompsons family, the top-class richest family in the whole of Shantel City in Canada. Drove the latest cars and wore the most expensive designer clothes. She envied her and sometimes wished she were her. “Hi, Rachy." Aria said from the other end of the line. “Are you home, Aria?" Rachel said, her voice hoarse from crying. "You don’t sound okay, Rachy. Is anything the matter?” She queried. Rachel heaved heavily. She never shared her problem with Aria and wouldn’t start now. “It's nothing, Aria; Lucas is traveling, and the help is on sick leave. I don’t want to stay alone in the house." “Oh! Okay, Rachy, I’m at home; you can come over.” Aria chuckled, then hung up. Rachel sighed dramatically. Feeling exhausted from the whole drama. Her childbearing issue was draining her seriously, but she was able to stay cool with it from Lucas's assuring words. She has always thought she had the best husband in the world, who gave her courage and assurance that she didn’t need to hurry about giving birth. He didn’t pressure or scold her like some people would do. It's been three years since she married; still no child or even miscarriage. But how ironic is life? Her dear loving husband was seeing his ex-girlfriend, and getting her pregnant was obviously his aim. The same guy who assured her that having a child shouldn’t bother her and reprimanded her for considering IVF, but she made up her mind today to go sign the IVF papers without Lucas' knowledge. Rachel recalled three years ago. After she dropped her last painting piece at Maple Brushes Artworks in Veritas City. She received countless offers from the prominent company. However, she rejected them to focus on helping Lucas with the new company he was establishing. And since then, they have been in touch with her. Rachel made up her mind; she was going to accept the proposal this time around. It was a call for the role of an artistic ambassador. Maple Brushes Artworks was not an ordinary company. It is a behemoth in the painting industry with a dominant presence in the Canadian market. As one of the largest and most recognized painting companies in the country, they control about 40% of the national market. Their growing presence extends beyond Canada, covering international markets with top artists, galleries, and collectors worldwide. With a portfolio of iconic brands. They invest worldwide with a market capitalization of over $1 billion. Racheal picked up her phone and scrolled through the details of the contract. She was to sign up for the contract, and once done, her flight was scheduled for the next twenty days. Rachel took a deep breath and took up the opportunity, putting her signature down. She had made up her mind to leave Lucas so he can have Fiona to himself without obstruction.
