It's been a lot of waiting. I had to endure too much nonsense and I was getting annoyed. I'm getting of hearing how hot or yummy the boss is. What is their aim of coming to this interview? To fraternize with the guy? How cheap. The lady I was sitting next to was so into her phone, not much sociable. I mean I tried small talk just to get acquainted but she was so monotonous. I gave up trying and nervously bit my nails. The line was moving and some of them came out frustrated or flustered. My guess is things went South for them.
Time was ticking and more candidates were going in and out. My anxiety shop up, my palms became sweaty and beads of sweat rolled from my forehead. Oh gosh! I think I'm coming down on something. It was starting to get stuffy and I was unsettled. I shot up and went in the direction of the receptionist.
" Hey. Can I get a glass of cold water?"
" Sure. Let me get it for you, " she rounded her desk off to somewhere, to the kitchen. I use my hand to fan the heat I was feeding but it wasn't working. After a few minutes, she came back with a glass of chilled water. Wasting no time I took the offered glass from her and gulped it down. My throat went cold and it nearly gave me a brain freeze. It did the trick. I was feeling a bit calm.
" Thanks."
" No problem. Are you alright though? " she inquired. " Yes. It's just nerves. It happens all the time" I assured her and she nodded in understanding. Putting the glass down I took a handkerchief out of my blazer pocket to wipe the sweat off my forehead. I breathed in and out to make sure I'm alright. After, I went back the way I came. When I got to my spot, only two people were left. It's going to be my turn soon.
I took a seat. Only one thing came to make me relaxed. Seeing my baby's face. I took my phone out of my back. As soon as I turned it on I was met with her pouty face. A smile spread across my face. Her cuteness is the cure to any distress. I went to the gallery and pressed the folder which has her pictures. Time went by quicker as I scrolled through her pictures. I didn't even realize that it was my turn to go in.
Oh well, it's now or never. No matter what happens, I'll still have a gummy bear and mom to cheer me up or join me to celebrate. Whichever it is. It doesn't matter much. I will give it my best.

As instructed, Carmen is handling the interview. So that's out of my hair. I'm up to date with my work so there's nothing much to do. Right now I'm looking through the project file to review it and make some approvals. I have a wonderful team. Most of the time I need not worry about the progress of the project because they have it under control. " Ping " the notification on my phone signaled me of a message. I picked it up to check only to find it is from Sierra.
" Come home tonight. I prepared a special dinner and I would like for you to be there. "
Seriously? When will she ever give up? This is the reason I go home very late and live early morning as well. I can't keep going like this. Having to say the same thing to her. She'll drive me up the wall. If only she understood our situation, things would be better for both of us. Instead, she insists on making me the villain. I ignored the message. What will I say that she doesn't know.
I closed the project file and leaned back on the chair. Sighing closed my eyes and massaged my temples. Gosh! What is this? This ridiculous marriage. Marriage is supposed to be a blissful thing for those involved. A dream that has materialized but for me. A shackle. Binding me to someone who I don't love. What was supposed to be a union of two people, hearts and souls became a transaction. The union of business resources and contacts and an imprisoning clause.
I'm tired of softly pushing her away. She refuses to understand but every time I think of telling her off, I pity her. My pity for her will go away because of her stubborn behavior. I got up and went to open the blinds. Just to take a peek. If there are any ladies outside, they'll hound me. I don't want that. I want to go to the cafeteria to get coffee. It will help with the frustration and stress I have. Carmen is busy so I can't call her to get it for me. But... she must be done by now. No, she's tired. I should get it myself plus I need work.
As I was scanning the area a lady passes right in front of my office. Wait! She looked familiar. She looks like Gabby. I gasped and my eyes widened. Are my eyes deceiving me? What would she be doing here anyway? I tried to see her through the glass window but she got further away. No, I must confirm whether it is her or not. I went out of the office and saw her just disappear from the corridor. My heart was thumping so hard. What if it's her? I jogged to catch up to her. When I got to the reception she was already getting into the. lift. She turned and I saw her. Clearly. It was her. Now my heart was beating rapidly and I was rooted in my spot. I couldn't help it. I called out to her. " Gabby!" To further confirm she looked at her caller. Just before the lift could call I saw her shocked expression. It is her. Gabriella. My Gabriella.
