The Start Of New Begining
Early on Monday morning, James Holmes woke up feeling happier than usual. He was a charming, happy-go-lucky, and mischievous young man with dark brown hair and eyes. He was a little taller than most boys his age and had a vibrant personality. He was also the son of the school director, but he kept that a secret from everyone because he didn't want to receive special attention. He had woken up much earlier than usual because he was going to pick up his childhood best friend. They had recently transferred to another school together. After making sure he was neat and presentable, he smiled at himself in the mirror before heading to Dane Yahn's house. As he walked downstairs and out to the front gate, he greeted his driver with a bright smile. His driver smiled back before opening the car door for him. Beep! Beep! James' car honked in front of Dane's house. Dane had not yet finished eating breakfast, but she quickly drank the rest of her warm milk before putting on her shoes. Her older brother, Dave, walked over and sniffed her playfully. He teased her, saying, "Oh! My brother-in-law is already waiting for you. Don't keep him waiting any longer." Annoyed by his teasing, Dane lightly smacked his arm. "Ouch!" Dave laughed. "Take care on your way. Make sure you stay safe. Don't end up like your crippled brother." She looked at him and waved. "I'll take care of myself. Don't worry. I won't let anything irrelevant stop me from becoming a Taekwondo master," she boasted confidently. Dane opened the gate and walked toward James, greeting him with a smile. James blushed when she tapped his right shoulder and straightened the collar of his coat. After checking his appearance, she nodded with satisfaction. James hurried to open the back door of the car for her before they left for school. Dane sat in the back seat beside James. The driver smiled politely and greeted her. She returned the greeting with a smile. James asked how she had spent her summer vacation. "I went to Busan for the Taekwondo preliminaries. After I won, my dad let me stay there for a while." As she leaned a little closer while talking, James felt his face grow warm and blushed once again. Meanwhile, the driver glanced at them through the rearview mirror and smiled to himself. "I missed you," James admitted softly. Dane looked at him before laughing. She gently smacked his hand. "Yeah, I missed you too," she replied with a smile. Then she asked, "By the way, how is your cousin, Jin Copper?" James raised his left eyebrow, feeling a little jealous that she had asked about someone else before asking more about him. "Oh? So you're thinking about my cousin? He's fine. We spent the whole break together. Did you miss him more than you missed me?" he asked teasingly. Dane wrapped one arm around his shoulder to comfort him. "Of course not! I missed my best friend the most." She laughed before suddenly frowning. Dane Yahn had long, shiny hair and was one of the brightest students in school. She was a full scholar, friendly, cheerful, intelligent, and a little tomboyish. She never let anyone see her reviewing her lessons because she believed she would get mentally blocked if people watched her study. Despite being very studious, she was also an athletic young lady. Flashback James had recently transferred to the town where Dane had grown up. After helping his mother unpack their belongings, he told her he wanted to explore the neighborhood. His mother simply made an "okay" hand sign, and James walked out through the front gate. As he wandered around, he spotted a playground and decided to go there. He looked around to see if there were any children playing, but the playground was empty. Thinking he could enjoy it by himself first, he walked over to the swings. His eyes sparkled with excitement as he happily began swinging. A few minutes later, a group of children arrived. James didn't notice them until he stopped swinging. At first, he thought they had come to play as well. Since they stayed away from him, he ignored them and continued enjoying the swing. Deep inside, however, he wanted to make friends with them. He stopped swinging and slowly walked toward the group. Before he could reach them, he noticed a boy holding a toy. The group's leader suddenly shoved the boy, and the two started fighting. Although James didn't know any self-defense, he rushed over and stood in front of the boy with the toy, protecting him from the group of bullies. Meanwhile, Dane's mother asked her to buy a bottle of soy sauce from the nearby store. Before leaving, Dane took a deep breath and looked at her brother, who was receiving a nebulizer treatment. Her face filled with sadness. Her mother handed her the money. Dane walked out through the front gate, got on her bicycle, and rode toward the store. On her way there, her eyes caught sight of a boy at the playground trying to protect another boy from a group of bullies.
