NOVA
"What are you waiting for?" Alpha Phoenix enquired.
The sudden chill threatened to suffocate me, so I rubbed my arm. "So, why must we transform into our wolf forms? Could we please just enjoy ourselves and put all of this aside?"
"What are you referring to?"
Something about Alpha Phoenix's voice made me look at him. At the time, he was visibly unhappy. If he was upset with me, Goddess, I could not handle it.
After giving my arm a final rub, I walked gently toward him. His gaze never left mine, and it appeared to be just as gloomy as before.
"Well," I began, leaning against his arm. "To put it another way, I have not really learned much about you. This is all new to me."
"Are you implying that I am lying to you? I mean, everything I told you about our five-month-old relationship was true, but you must think I lied about everything, right?"
I shook my head rapidly. "That is not it. Phoenix, stop twisting my words." I gave his hands a gentle rub. "I want us to spend time together in each other's arms. I want us to feel our love and reconnect like we did the first time we met. Is not that possible?"
He turned his head away from me, and all I could do was hold on to him helplessly. I sincerely hoped he did not believe I did not have feelings for him. I simply did not want to ruin our evening.
He was my happiness and lifeline, and it may have been a little selfish of me to believe that my wolf could never shift. For reasons I would never understand, it was restricted. I needed to keep it hidden.
"Don’t be quiet," I muttered.
Alpha Phoenix let out a sigh. "All right. We need to shift, but we would not for tonight. My wolf is eager to talk to your wolf and reconnect like we used to."
"Did I do that then?"
"Well, not always," he hiccuped.
Strange. If I was able to shift at that time, it indicates that my wolf lost the ability when my memory was lost. Should I discuss this with Alpha Phoenix?
"Like you said, let us forget about all of this." He rubbed his nose and murmured, "Come, let us have dinner."
I smiled gently. "Okay,"

For the past three days, Alpha Phoenix has only discussed my transformation into a wolf. I made an effort to at least try talking to my wolf, Jane, but she mostly ignored me. According to her, she also said she had no recollection of being in my body before my accident. The entire drama almost made me feel like I was going to lose my mind. Ugh!
With a groan, I made my way to the little table in our room's corner. I took a cup, filled it with instant coffee from the machine, and then added four spoonfuls of sugar to it. The cup was on the table. Goddess knew I needed a fix.
"Nova, are you in there?" Alpha Phoenix teased as he slid his hands through my waistband.
Glancing down at my coffee, I flushed. "I think you are holding a live Nova."
He laughed and gave me a gentle peck on the hair before letting go. I sighed, turned to face him, and drank my coffee while absorbing him with my gaze. Goddess, he was dressed in a black night suit, but he still looked so manly.
"What do you have your eyes on?" He teased.
I looked away, taking a few more sips of my coffee before setting the cup down. "I just like my view, nothing else."
A smirk came to his face. "I take it that you are prepared to transform into a wolf?"
"You are returning to this conversation?" Gazing at Alpha Phoenix, I pushed my hair back.
The dark red hair that lined the exposed portion of his chest was visible to me as he folded his hand across it. I quickly averted my gaze, yelling at myself to avoid becoming sidetracked.
"How long would you keep avoiding me? I mean, when do you intend to do this? I need to know who I will spend my entire life with, right?"
"I am not sure I understand Phoenix. You told me three nights ago that I shifted with your wolf when I was still mentally stable. What other connection are you looking for, then?"
He snorted. "That was back then. However, I am attempting to assist you as you are currently experiencing memory loss. Our wolves must bond in order to do this. Since you were an Alpha's daughter, you must comprehend this"
No, this cannot be happening. He walked to the balcony, and I saw him open the white blinds to reveal a pitch-black night without the moon.
Rubbing the back of my neck, I could not move an inch. "You do not understand," I whispered.
He turned to face me, his eyes hardened. "What don’t I understand?"
"Well..."
"Stop spluttering! What am I supposed to understand? Speak up!"
Tears burned the back of my eyes, but I swallowed them and clenched my skirt in a fist. "I don’t... I would like to shift as well."
"Great, so let us go out to the balcony and do it."
I licked my chapped lips. "Please listen, okay?"
I brushed my hair several times while averting my eyes from him. "I don’t have a wolf, Phoenix. I mean, she is there, but I can’t shift."
He rushed over to me and pushed me up against his chest. The abrupt brutality stunned me. I had known him for four days, but now he was someone else. With blood-red eyes, this man appeared to be an absolute stranger.
"You are not joking around with me, right?"
I slowly shut my eyes. "You are hurting me, Phoenix."
"Do not start with your feminine bullshit. I would like to know if you are not kidding with me right now."
Tears streamed down my cheeks as I shook violently under the force of his grip. "I am not lying to you. I do not have a wolf."
Then he let go; slamming me into a chair until we both fell to the floor, the chair landing squarely on me. The sharp pain that shot through my arm made me cry, and I immediately pushed the chair back.
I heard him murmur, "I can not f*****g believe this."
Even though I was in pain, I kept my gaze on him in the hopes that he would notice, but he was destroying the room and throwing objects on the ground. Shocked, I pushed back.
Abruptly, he turned to face me, pointing with his fingers. "You deceived me."
"No, please don’t say that. I didn’t..."
"Shut the hell up, Nova Wolfe!" He screeched.
My body trembled with fear as he gave me a menacing growl. "Is that even your f*****g name? I believed that we would defeat the packs if you were my damn mate! Why did I waste time looking for you when you are completely useless? You are like a f*****g omega!"
Then he laughed. "No, you are actually worse. You are a useless, wolf-less b***h! Leave my room immediately, or I will kill you myself!"
My hand flew to my lips, and I could not stop the pain that was tearing through me. "Did you just call me a useless b***h?"
"I said, get the f**k out of my room!" He screamed out.
I started to run as quickly as I could after jolting up. I barely knew where I was going. Everything looked the same, and the side of my stomach hurt so badly. I slipped against my skirt, crashing forward.
I was lifted up by strong, masculine hands, and I noticed that I was staring up at the Alpha Phoenix. No, that couldn’t be right. Alpha Phoenix was inside the room. I blinked as I gave him another glance and saw that his blue eyes distinguished him from Alpha Phoenix.
Then he whispered, "Mate," like a drunken man.
