Chapter 19 In the early days of 1921, the buzz around New York City concerned the Broadway reunion of the Five Bell Brothers. People everywhere seemed to know about them, having seen them in vaudeville, and loved them. My own private knowledge was now shared all around. I remember the night when my father pulled me into a dilapidated second-rate theater and I fell asleep in the warmth of the audience, only to go backstage to meet some funny musicians who made me laugh and had to be brothers. They had made their name, they had found their place, and I was left to reminisce about scenes I thought were never meant to be. One evening in February my father came home with three tickets to the theater, and my parents and I went to dinner and onto the Casino Theater on Broadway and 89th Street.
