Prologue
"Are you really not running this time, friend?" Cynthia asked repeatedly.
"Maybe not for now, Cynthia. You know I don't want to work when my mind is somewhere else, right? You know why I'm busy today. I'm already having a hard time right now as governor because of how busy I am—I'm looking for my youngest child who went missing 20 years ago. So I'm torn between serving the public and searching for my missing child."
"Imee? Haven't you gotten tired of searching for your child yet? Look, it's already been 20 years. You have other children."
"Cynthia, I believe my child is still alive, and I will never get tired of looking for her."
"Look, Imee, I'm telling you that you haven't lacked in effort searching for your child, but how about your other kids? Are you able to keep an eye on them?"
"Cynthia it's so hard. If only I hadn't left her in that room, if only I had let her sleep beside me instead. I wish my child hadn't gone missing. I wish my princess hadn't vanished, because this is so hard."
"Imee, I'm here. We can help you."
"Thank you, Cynthia. I don't know what I would do without you in my life."
“imee, it's okay. We're friends, so we should be the ones helping each other out whenever one of us has a problem."
"Thank you, Cynthia. But I'll still think about whether to run."
"Alright, Imee. Think it through well. I know you're smart and you can pull through this."
Flash backs
"You're 6 weeks pregnant, Ms. Marcos."
"Omg, are you sure, Doc?"
"Yes, Ms. Marcos. Come back after 5 months so we can see the baby's gender."
After 5 months
"So, Ms. Marcos, your baby is a girl."
"My princess."
"Avoid crying so much, Ms. Marcos. That's bad for the baby."
"Yes, Doctor. Thank you."
I didn't tell Rod that I was pregnant after he cheated. He doesn't deserve to be a dad. We aren't married yet, but he already cheated on me. He doesn't deserve to be the father of my princess; he doesn't deserve to start a family with me. I deserve a better person—a man who can lift me up to heaven, a man who makes me feel like I deserve to be loved.
