Chapter 1
~Ariana's POV~
I stumbled over while running and grazed my knee on the rough dirt floor. I immediately burst into tears as my then 8year old sister turned back to look at the source of my grief. I remember my mother embracing me in her warm arms as I wailed in a futile attempt to calm my sobs, after bandaging my bobo, she gave it a gentle peck and smiled warmly " there, all better now".
End of flashback
I sighed at the memory, as I packed my suitcase for the boarding school.
I hated boarding schools but the thought of going back to my neighborhood day one sent shivers running up my spine. I didn't get how Kate could do it, but then again my dear older sister was good at just about anything, leaving me in her shadow.
"Aria! Hurry up already you're gonna be late" Kate yelled from downstairs.
I rolled my eyes. The only regulation about me getting to the boarding school is that I'm there before Monday, and it's currently Saturday afternoon, so I can't be late.
"I'm ready okay, no need to yell," I said trotting down the stairs with confidence I didn't have.
18-year-old Kate stuck her tongue out at me as she flipped her rich dark hair and bolted through the door "I call shotgun!" she screeched.
Oh crap, I'd forgotten. By the time I had reached the car kate was lazing comfortably in the front seat with my little brother, Caleb frowning in the backseat, he turned to look at me with his puppy dog eyes as I neared the car. "Aria, it's not fair I was in the front first!"
"Mmm, but you're not there now are you?" kate retorted with a smirk.
Caleb looked close to tears despite Kate doing this all the time.
"Alright pumpkin, you ready to go?" my dad asked, seemingly appearing out of thin air.
"Dad! you scared me!" I exclaimed, somewhat annoyed.
"I don't know what you're talking about pumpkin" he retorted with a smirk that looked identical to my sister's while climbing into the driver's seat.
"Isn't mum joining us?" I asked, joining Caleb in the back.
"Not today pumpkin"
"oh"
I wonder why she didn't come along this time, she was so excited about me going back to school earlier, well maybe she didn't feel well or something, it must have been something important to have her miss the trip to school.
I eyed my sister from the corner of my eye as she shifted warily in her seat. Odd, I wonder what's up with her?
The ride was going to be quite long so I plugged my headphones in and started dozing off.
