Chapter 21Jayden emptied her handbag onto her bed and raked through her possessions. She inspected her wallet and liberated her driving licence. The keys jangled as she pulled them free and she held them up and sighed with relief. She hadn’t closed her bag as she’d marched home and only realised as she hurled it onto the bed and a lipstick rolled free. A ladybird clip kept her keys together and she lifted it to inspect the red body with its loud, black spots. Jayden gasped as it came apart in her fingers and the keys scattered into her lap. “Oh, no!” she groaned. “Mum bought me that!” She tried to fix the catch, but couldn’t.
