Hybrid and Her Mate

Selene's POV Today is my 18th birthday! It is a very important one for me as I get to shift for the first time and find my mate. Trying to make myself look the best I can, I’m putting the finishing touches on my eyeliner. Feeling a little adventurous, I went with a cat-eye look and winged eyeliner. I then make my lashes look as big as possible bringing out the green in my hazel eyes. I next start on my hair, doing a tight curl today instead of a beach wave. I have fire red hair and the curls make it look like it’s ablaze. Next, I grab my outfit which consists of ripped jeans, a black shirt, and my leather jacket. I make my way downstairs to be greeted by the smell of pancakes and bacon. My favorite breakfast in the whole world. Grabbing the orange juice out of the fridge, I fill a glass for myself and fill two mugs of coffee for my parents. When I turn around, they were both staring at me. “Happy Birthday Selene!” They say in unison. My mother, Michelle, is beautiful with traditional red hair and blue eyes. My father, Todd, has hazel eyes like me and dark brown hair beginning to streak with grey. “Thanks guys.” I said with a smile as I set their coffee down in front of them. When I get to my placement, I find my plate all loaded up. I am a single child and always wished for a brother or sister. Oh well, we get what we get.  “So Selene, do you have any plans today?” My mother asks me knowing full well that I didn’t plan anything. “Not at all. I plan on heading back here right away after school.” I knew she was planning a surprise party like she does every year. “What about with Zach?” Zach is my boyfriend of 2 years and I’m hoping he’s my mate. We are so good together and he’s incredibly sweet. “He’s got plans with his parents. We are going to do something special this weekend together instead.” He plans out taking me for dinner and then we are going to head back to his place. If everything turns out the way I hope it does, we are going to take the next step in our relationship. I am a virgin and plan on staying that way until I find my mate. I am saving it for him specifically. I finished throwing my breakfast and make my way to the door to head to school. I grabbed my bag and just as I was about to grab the handle my father stopped me. “Selene, we want to give you our gift early today. We figured you wouldn’t want to walk to school anymore.” He said as he threw me some keys. “No way! You got me a vehicle?!” “Something like that, why do you go check it out.” I threw the door open and sitting in the middle of the driveway was a brand new Logan Lycan 250cc. My dream bike! They even got it in black, just the way I like it. “OMG!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!” I threw my arms around them before hopping on it and making my way to school. Once I pulled into a parking space and shut off the engine, I saw my boyfriend, Zach. I hopped off my bike and was making my way to him when all of a sudden he turned towards Lisa, my enemy, and scooped her up before locking lips with her.  My heart shattered, I had forgotten that we shared a birthday together. We used to be best friends before she decided I wasn’t cool enough and got some new friends. When they finished, he turned to me with sadness in his eyes and started towards me.  I couldn’t bear it and jumped back on my bike and took off. I drove to the woods behind my house not wanting to be bothered and started bawling my eyes out. I mean, I understand your make is your true soul mate, but why her. All of a sudden, I felt my bones start shifting. Each one of them started to break and expand as I was screaming.  Next to me, a pine tree set the fire out of nowhere. I tried to scramble away as fast as my shifting body would allow me. The pain felt like it was going to last forever. I screamed and screamed until I fully shifted. I then took off running and my wolf Ella popped into my head.  “Hi Selene, it’s nice to finally meet you!” I knew her name right away because she was my wolf. “Hi Ella.” I really didn’t know what to say, I just found out my ex-boyfriend got his mate and then I shifted. It’s been a trying day already. I thought back to the tree that exploded while I was shifting. “Any clue what happened back there?” I asked. “Well yes, but you’re supposed to find out for yourself.” She tells me. Great, my own wolf is keeping secrets from me now. Suddenly, I smelled the most amazing smell ever. It was a mixture between rainwater and mint. I took off in that direction until I came to a waterfall. I shifted back and hid behind a tree,  not just because I didn’t want to be seen, but also because I was naked.  In the waterfall, facing the other way was a tanned guy, covered in tattoos, with long black hair. He suddenly stiffened and turned around. The second our eyes met, my wolf started screaming mate over and over in my head. He came striding towards me and once he got closer, I saw that his eyes were so blue they were practically glowing. He scooped me up and kissed me as he walked us to the lake. He set me down on a big rock before pulling back and looking into my eyes. “It’s about time I found you. My name is Jake.” He says in a deep, husky voice. “Hi Jake, I’m Selene.” I say in a timid voice. I got goosebumps just from the way he was looking at me and wetness appeared between my legs.  His eyes darkened and filled with lust. He attached his lips to mine once more. He laid be back and started playing with my breasts and pulled one of my n***les into his mouth. He sucked on one and twist the other. I tilted my head back and moaned.
