CHAPTER 5

Gracie I was lying on the bed as Ryland showered. We were going out for dinner and chose to shower separately because we knew if we did it together, we would be too distracted. Ryland’s cell started ringing from his bedside table and what was on the screen caught my eyes. The call was coming through messenger. Daisy! Why the f**k was she calling him Did she not get the hint when he didn’t message her back I waited for it to stop when it wasn’t answered, but the second the call ended, another one came through. I reached for it without even thinking and answered it. “Hello, Ryland! And there was me thinking you were ignoring me,” Daisy giggled on the other end, “Not Ryland. It is Gracie, and I want to know why you keep calling my man” I tried to keep calm, but the irritation was evident in my voice. “Um, hello, Gracie. I am just checking in with everyone who will be joining us after the summer,” she protested, “Stop lying to me, Daisy, because I sure haven’t heard from you. I don’t know what you think you are doing, but he isn’t interested so leave him alone!” I snapped. Did she really think I was that stupid That I would believe that bullshit “Whatever, Gracie!” she snapped, hanging up. God, she is such a b***h! I groaned in frustration, tossing the phone aside, “What did my cell ever do to you” I heard Ryland chuckle. I glanced up, moaning when my eyes fell on him with only a towel wrapped around his waist. No matter how many times I have seen his naked muscly body and his tattoos, he still turns me on no end; he is so damn sexy. “Your girlfriend called,” I said sarcastically. “My girlfriend” he asked, confused. “Daisy! Sorry, I answered it, but she kept calling,” I sighed, shaking my head. I saw a wave of anger take over his face. “What the hell did she want” he snarled, sitting on the edge of the bed. “She tried to tell me she is checking in with all new starts, but I called bullshit; she got mad and hung up.” I shook my head, running my fingers through my hair. I hoped beyond hope for her not to be a problem for me, for Ryland. We came here for a fresh start, and the last thing we wanted or needed was any trouble. “I am sorry she is doing this, kitten.” He sighed, scooting closer to me. “It isn’t your fault. The b***h is bat-s**t crazy! Just be careful, please, okay” I reached over, pressing my lips softly to his. “I will be, promise, but I am sure she will get bored eventually. Try not to let it get to you too much, okay” he said, stroking my face. I nod, moving into his touch. “Now, let’s get ready for date night,” he smiled, pecking my lips one last time before jumping to his feet. He offered me his hand, which I took, and he pulled me to my feet. I had my clothes set out already. It was just a case of changing out of my dressing gown. I untied my robe, pushing it off my shoulders and letting it drop to the floor all the while trying to ignore the self-harm scars on my legs because, even though I didn’t cut anymore, I was still self-conscious about the marks and the memories of my past that came with them. Maybe I should think about getting them covered with a tattoo or something. I pushed those thoughts to the back of my mind then and exposed my black and red lacy underwear set.The bra perked my breasts up amazingly, and the panties barely covered my ass or my front; they didn’t leave much to the imagination, and had a small clip at the front of the bra for easier access. Ryland’s full attention fell on me; I felt his eyes wandering over my body while he groaned. He reached for me, but I swatted his hand away, “Kitten,” he whined, “you can’t show me that and expect me to behave.” He folded his arms over his chest and huffed. “You can admire it all later and even take every individual piece off,” I smirked, turning away from him to slip my dress over my body. I had chosen a simple black dress, cute and suitable for dinner. Ryland came up behind me, slipping his strong, protective arms around me, kissing my neck, “Mmm, that is a sexy dress,” he whispered, running his hands over my hips and ass. One of his hand reached around and worked on my hip and thigh while the other worked on my upper body. I moaned, resting my back against him. “Behave, we have a reservation. And you still need to change,” I breathed out. He chuckled in my ear, stepping back from me. It was a struggle, but I pulled myself together, and he finally put his clothes on. It didn’t take long for us to get organized to head out. “Let us know when you are on your way back just in case; you don’t wanna find us in a compromising position,” Lola laughed. “I swear if you have s*x on the sofa, I am throwing it out and burning it,” I warned, waggling my finger at them. “You will never know if we do,” Ben chuckled. “You two are disgusting.” Ryland groaned, shaking his head. “Yeah, yeah, now go away. We have plans,” Lola snickered, shooing us out. I flipped her off, and we left the apartment.
