The smell of coffee is the best thing in the world, especially after the night that I had.  Gabby must have known that I had a rough night. She must have made the coffee before she left for her run this morning.

Gabby and I have been roommates for a little over two years now. Her father is the Alpha of the Silver Moon Pack. Gabby's father, Trey, is a bit overprotective of her and wasn't too keen on her living among humans, though she is human or at least half-human. So, he asked if I would be willing to have her as a roommate. This way, she was close to home but far enough away to live her own life. Also, Gabby isn’t aware that she is half-human, and her parents aren’t ready for her to know. They were afraid that she would find out that she was only half-human if she lived among humans. Hence the request by her father for us to become roommates. So, far it has worked out. She is one of my closest friends. 

Centuries ago, an agreement between the Silver Moon Pack and my ancestor's established their pack lands on my ancestor land, hence why Trey was keen on having her be my roommate. My ancestor land is vast and has a variety of supernatural communities. Ever since the Great War between supernaturals and humans, supernaturals tend to stick with other supernaturals. 

Long ago, supernaturals were the dominant species and ruled over humans. Over time, humans became the dominant species, and the supernatural world was pushed aside and forced to hide in the shadows. For most of us, this was just the way it was, and we didn't put much thought into it. However, others would not tolerate this, and they wanted things to go back to the way there were. So, those who wanted to be the dominant species again set out to take over the human world. The war waged on for years, with heavy losses on both sides. Eventually, both sides agreed to end the war, and a peace treaty was signed. Now supernaturals live out in the open and sometimes beside humans. However, it hasn't been easy. Humans are not the most accepting of species.  

Gabby is an orphan of that war. Gabby’s parents had helped the Silver Moon Pack, and sadly it had cost them their lives. Gabby was just a baby at the time, and there was no other family to raise her. Trey and Lilian, Alpha and Luna, felt terrible that Gabby had lost her parents while helping them. They thought it was only right for them to raise her as their own. 

As I was pouring myself a rather large coffee cup, I was pulled out of my thoughts when I noticed about five black SUV with heavily tinted windows driving up my driveway. It could only be vampires. Not that sunlight will burn them or kill them. No, that is a myth. Vampires get a kick out of being mysterious and living up to humans' ideas of what they are. In truth, they are much scarier.  

Historically, witches and vampires do not get along. I am not entirely sure why that is. So, it wasn’t a good sign that they were coming to visit. Though I probably know why they are here. Every so often, they come here and try to claim this land as theirs.

Liam POV

We were traveling to the witch's property to try and get her to give us her land. We have been trying for thousands of years to claim this land as ours. We have yet to succeed. I didn't think this time would be any different.

Seth had come up with a plan to present the witch with forged documents showing that the land belonged to us. I didn't think the witch was going to fall for it. Though this was a better plan then we had come up with it in recent centuries.

Seth was determined to get the land that he felt was ours and that we were cheated out of. In the beginning, a powerful Supreme Light Witch named Saphira declared the land was hers and her bloodlines. The problem was that vampires had already settled on the land. Saphira was willing to let us stay on the land, but the land would essentially be hers. Vampires don't like to share what is theirs, nor do we take kindly when taken from us.  

I have to admit the land is beautiful. Tall pine trees and rivers run through the lands where incredible. I could see why my people wanted this land. There was something so peaceful about this place. I wished I could explore it. Unfortunately, I probably would not get the chance. 

"Are we clear on how this is going to work?" Seth asked for the millionth time. It wasn't that hard to remember.

"Yes. We present the witch with the paperwork that shows that we own the land. We then proceed to tell her that she has 24 hours to vacate the land." I said

"Good. At least someone is listening." Seth said

"I do have a question what happens if she decides not to vacate and also notices that the paperwork is forged. Then what?"

"Then we take it by force," Seth said

That should be interesting. I don't think we have a chance in hell. Rumor has it that she is the most powerful white witch in the world. If it is true, she will have no problem taking us all out with a mere thought.

Seth is ancient, which means that he was one of the original vampires. The ancients had long ago disappeared and were thought to have died. Then about five years ago, they started showing up. The problem was that they wanted things to go back to the way they were and were not too pleased or happy about how the modern world had turned out. Before they disappeared, the world was the supernatural, and humans were our slaves.  Over time the humans inherited the earth, and the supernatural world was pushed to the side and into the shadows. That is until the war with the humans. The only thing that has changed is that we don't live in the shadows, but humans do not accept us. 

As we drove up the house's driveway, I started to feel my blood pulling me towards the house, which meant that someone in the house was possibly my blood mate, which couldn’t be. Vampires do not have blood mates that aren’t other vampires. As far as I knew, the witch wasn’t living with any vampires. Hmm. I wonder if the witch has cast some spell, but that doesn’t make sense. What would that accomplish, and what could she possibly gain from it. I wonder. Well, I will find out soon.
