Blood Mate

Mikayla POV As the SUV came to a stop in front of the house, I felt a slight tug of my blood. This was different. I didn't expect that I would have a blood mate. I am only about 25% vampire give or take. I wonder if I would have felt the tug if I didn't know about blood mates.  Well, one thing was for sure whoever the vampire was, my blood mate, they won't come forward and admit it. Most vampires are under the crazy assumption that only a pure vampire could be their blood mate, which isn't always the case. As the human and supernatural world continue to live in the same world, it was becoming more common for our mates to be human. This should be interesting. "Are you going to stand there all morning, or are we going to go out and greet our visitors?" Gabby asked from the door of the kitchen. I was so lost in thought I hadn't heard her come in.  "I suppose that we should be a gracious hostess and go out and greet our guest," I groaned, not wanting to greet them. They were here for one purpose and one purpose only.  As we made our way out, I was drawn to the most handsome man I have ever laid eyes on. Huh, I wonder if I felt that way because he was my blood mate. He was about 6'3 or 6'5 with broad shoulders. He had the most bright icy grey eyes that I had ever seen. His chocolate brown hair looks so soft and luxurious that I wanted to run my hands through it.  As we approached the group of about 15 vampires, I noticed Seth. Yes, I knew who Seth was. I felt it when all the ancients woke up from their 20,000-year slumber, and for some reason, I knew who they all were even though I had never met anyone of them before their sleep.   "Welcome, gentlemen. What brings you to my home on this beautiful morning," I said warmly and with a smile. "We come to show documentation that this land is ours and that we kindly ask you to leave. You have 24 hours to do so." Seth commanded "Now Seth, you know perfectly well this land does not belong to you or the vampires. And whatever documentation you have is forged. So, no, I will not be leaving." I said, amused. So, typical of vampires. They come in and demand things. Never ask nicely, no, they demand. The look on Seth's face was priceless. He was pissed that I told him no. This was not going to end well for the vampires.  Liam POV She was the most beautiful woman that I had ever seen. After all these thousands of years, I was finally looking at my blood mate. She had dark purple hair short, like a pixie cut that matched her violet eyes perfectly. She was slender and maybe about 5'5 at best. When she smiled, her whole face light up. Those curves of hers were perfect and deliciously sexy. There was no way she was my mate. However, I wouldn't mind taking her for a ride.  I had to pull my focus away from her, which I hadn't wanted to do, but it was showtime. And I needed to focus on what was going on.  When Seth told her about the documents and had to leave, she just smiled at him and called him out by name. How in the world did she know Seth's name. We hadn't introduced ourselves, but yet she knew his name. I could tell that Seth was just as surprised by this as I was, but he didn't show it and didn't skip a beat. "Well, then we will have to take it by force," Seth said "You and what army," she replied calmly I found it amusing that she didn't find us threatening or intimidating. Though she may have the upper hand, that didn't mean we were helpless and couldn't cause some severe damage. She was about to find out just how threatening we are; however; I was torn. I didn't want to see her get hurt, but yet at the same time, she was no concern of mine even if she was supposed to be my blood mate, which I had my doubts about. I loathed witches and sure as hell was not going to make one my mate, nor do I feel that I would be cursed to have a witch as a mate.  We were prepared to fight when all of a sudden, everyone but me was doubled over in pain. Why was I the only one that was not in pain? I looked over to her, and she had an annoyed look on her face when her eyes landed on me. I got the impression she wasn't the one causing everyone pain. No, it was the land. It was telling us that we weren't welcome. Correction that they were not welcome, but I guess I was welcomed. Mikayla POV As soon as Seth told me that he would take my land by force, everyone doubles over in pain. Except for one. My supposed blood mate. The land had accepted him, which was crazy. He wasn't going to accept me in any way, shape, or form. So, why should the land?  "Enough," I said to the land.  Slowly, the vampires got back on their feet. I could see that they were now wry of me. It made sense they thought I was the one that caused them pain. It did no good to explain to them that the land had caused them pain and not me. Vampires aren't the most open-minded of species.  "Gentlemen, I think it best that you leave now. You have overstayed your welcome." I said and turned around to go back into the house.  "This isn't over." Seth threatens as he got back into one of the SUV No, I would imagine it wasn't over, especially considering my blood mate was among them, which only meant things were about to get complicated. Deep down, I knew that I hadn't seen the last of them and that they would be back. I am so hoping that I am wrong.  "So, do you want to tell me about what just happened?" Gabby asked once we were back in the house.  "You know what happened. The land doesn't want them here." I said, knowing full well that's not what she meant. She gave me an exasperated look and said, "That's not what I meant, and you know it. Why was he the only one not affected by the land." "He is my blood mate, and apparently, even the land knows this," I said "Wait. What?" Gabby said.  "I felt a slight tugging of my blood when they stopped in front of the house. When I laid my eyes on him, I knew that he was my blood mate. And he also knows that I am his blood mate." I told Gabby "Oh my god. I can't believe you ended up with a vampire for a mate." Gabby said "I wouldn't worry about it. I don't think I will be seeing him again. You know as well as I do vampires think only another vampire can be their blood mate." I told Gabby "True. Now let's have some breakfast and coffee. That was enough excitement for one day." Gabby said while heading towards the kitchen.  "Yes, let's. I am staving." I said I had this nagging feeling that I would see him again and that nothing was ever going to be the same. I didn't need this, not with my dreams or nightmares or whatever they were going on. I just hoped that was the last I would see of him and Seth. Now that I think about it, there was something familiar about Seth that I couldn't be my finger on. Which reminds me, I need to call Joe and tell him about my latest dream that I had. I took the cordless phone and dialed Joe’s number. It went straight to voice mail. I left him a message letting him know what my dream had been about. Hopefully, in the next couple of days, he would get back to me.
