Prologue
It was said that in the time of the human giants a diamond like asteroid went undetected. By the time the human giant's machines let them know, it had passed the moon and was too late to do anything. They could only watch in horror and panic as it broke apart before reaching the atmosphere. The broken pieces, as if with minds of their own, lowered then hovered over every major city across the planet. Once every skyscraper sized piece found its place, they then broke again. The smaller pieces shot out to find places that had the most natural resource depletions. After the breaking stopped, the shards dove into the Earth’s crust crushing anything that was unfortunate to be in their path. The absorption began then. They had started to pulse, like a heart, and with every pulse they pulled everything man made into themselves and absorbed it. From the tallest building to the smallest nanobot. Nothing was kept hidden or safe from their reach, if it had been touched by the hands of the giants it was taken into the cores of every shard seen and unseen. Those who survived to the end recalled the Earth’s silence, no crashing or breaking, no buzzing of technology, no bugs chirping, no animals moving in the brush and no more screams. Only for one long minute the Earth was completely silent. Time enough to wonder what and why before the shards pierced into the ground. They then began to glow bright, vibrate with a strange plinking sound. With every tink they would grow roots, that spread in a circle miles wide. Once the rooting stopped was when the true calamity was unleashed upon the world. All of the things they had absorbed had been broken back down into their most natural and purest forms and then burst from the Earth’s crust 10 fold like obelisk clusters. In the same instance a cloud of purple sparkling dust plumed from the north. As it rapidly covered the planet’s surface. Once it coated everything it touched was when the fusion of the beings began. Pets fused with their masters, zoo species fused with whoever was closest, campers and wildlife preserves fused with the nearest wild beast, farmers and ranchers merged with livestock, and almost everyone else fused with insects. Not every creature fused with a human counterpart but every living thing grew with intelligence. Whatever was left of the living bipedal giants emerged in minuscule bodies, most no longer just human. They named that world changing event, The Great Jewel Cloud Calamity. The Next Beings is what any non-human were now known as, collected themselves and their knowledge. After a few decades tribes of beings roamed the new wild land. They took what happened with the man made resources as a message and decided that it was in their best interests to work with nature instead of against it. After another five decades a civilization was born in a City called Allvania of the United Beings.
