"Mr Elliot?" She struggled to get on her feet, almost fell but stabled herself.
She noticed she stood a bit too close to him and moved a step back, a bit embarrassed she was quite short compared to him that stood tall like a scrapper.
"Er...What are you doing here?" She asked stuttering on her words.
He raised a brow at her question, "This is my house."
Abigail mentally slapped herself for asking such a stupid question, "N-no...I-I meant to say I wasn't expecting you, you startled me."
She noticed how intense his brooding brows stared at her, whatever anger she saw in his eyes subsided a bit, he looked irritated.
She tried hard not to study his excellent physical features but she failed, his facial structure striking the most.
His grey orbs were hooded by his thick dark brows and even though he was a man she felt slightly insecure by his beauty.
His eyes were beautiful cloudy grey orbs with lids that had long lashes.
The intensity his orbs carried made him look abstruse, with lots of mystery cloaking around his being.
Marking his face with another prominent feature was his strong straight nose and an angular masculine jaw.
"I would like to know why you are here? You are a stranger, "his question brought her back from her wandering thoughts about his good looking self.
She cleared her throat trying to look less tense, "I am not a stranger, I am a friend to your mother and Ivan."
When she spoke about Ivan, Elliot noticed she passed a smile in his cot direction.
He expected her to start fangirling at seeing him.
Why is she so composed? And her smile?
It looks so genuine contrasting from the fake he painted her.
"It doesn't change the fact you are not known and welcomed in my home, " his tone was low and filled with disdain. His eyes looked at her in the same way.
"I don't like you around my son, or around my home, " he stated.
He took a few strides forward causing her to walk back a bit, he continued till she hit her back on the wall.
What is he doing? She gulped, trying to control the dread washing over her skin.
Elliot tried to look into her act, trying to unfold the layers of her lie, but her big blue orbs were telling him another story.
Fear, perhaps and lots of innocence.
It unsettled him.
He halted in his steps, "This is the last time I would see you around my house or my child, next time a restraining order would be placed on you."
"You can leave now."
He moved to the side to give her space to walk out to the door, but she remained her big orbs staring at him.
Why isn't she moving?
"I said you should leave. If you choose not to my security would be glad to do their job, " he warned trying to keep his temper in check.
Her silence continued, and it did one thing irk him, he observed her for a second and regretted doing so.
She was definitely eye charming, and an unusual lady.
Having a head full of lustrous and curly red hair that basically flew in all directions was one. It made her beauty reckless. It framed her face into an oval-shaped structure, a slightly broad nose with a straight tip. She had the brightest shade of red lips he has ever seen, slightly thin on the upper lip plump on her lower.
Laying on the bridge of her nose were endless freckles, dotted close to her bright almond eyes, lashed with a lighter shade of red lashes.
Softening her look was her soft blue orbs, they held so many emotions and was never afraid of expressing them.
Like the defiance, she presently carried around. Many feared his presence and would rather not listen to his voice when annoyed, but she doesn't.
Over the past weeks, his new self is a topic among his staff, and they learnt fast not to step on his tail.
But she wasn't his staff she barely knew him but she would learn faster that he wasn't someone to mess with.
"Ms Abigail, " he spoke up once more, his voice carrying a warning to it.
"I promised your mother to stay a little longer with him, and I can't leave without her knowing and you won't bully me into leaving," she twitched the side of her lips in annoyance, staring away from him.
This was the first a person would go against what he ordered.
He was no longer irked, he felt challenged.
"He is my child, not your's, this my house not my mother's house and my rules, my orders stands here. This is my last warning to you before you are dragged out of here to the streets."
Checking his wristwatch he said, "A minute is enough for you to leave." And walked out of the door, leaving her in a little rage.
Why does he think so highly of himself?
And why is he so desperate to separate her from Ivan?
She won't be able to visit and if she tries to and gets caught she gets a restraining order.
And might get arrested.
She went to Ivan's cot, and bent slightly over it, he was sound asleep looking peaceful and adorable.
Her heart clenched a bit as she felt tears forming in her tear ducts, for the first time after two failed relationships and multiple tries to get pregnant she felt close to being a mother.
She recalled her physician explaining to her the chances of her ever getting pregnant was very rare.
She hardly had up to ten per cent chance and with such little chances if she ever does her chances of having a child with a weak uterus might put her life at risk.
Her two fiancés upon finding out she can't bear children cancelled their relationship, and it broke her.
With time she felt okay with their decision not to continue and believed if they loved her as they claimed, to be unable to bear children won't matter.
They could adopt or find solutions, but they choose to get rid of her like she wasn't good enough for them.
Her mother had always told her not to find her worth in a man but herself and she won't let two men decide where they place her simply, because she has infertility problems.
What gave her agony, was the fact her one dream of holding her child in her arms wasn't possible.
She grew up surrounded by children and loved them. Growing up she daydreamed of just how perfect she would be as a mother when she has her children.
She dreamt of a complete family.
A father she couldn't have, she would ensure her child has.
Except that dream died when it was affirmed she can't create that family.
She can't bore her children, her mother and Mrs Vivian were the only ones who knew of what she passed through and constantly provided their support.
She avoided getting into a relationship to prevent the mistake of her past relationships from repeating itself and lost all hope of being a mother. Except, she felt life breathe hope into her when she held Ivan for the first time.
His big green irises stared curiously at her, as his little fingers played with her curls. For the first time in three years, she felt complete.
With a strong bond growing between them under a short period
Ivan made her feel almost a mother, considering the fact he lost his own. She cherished and loved him under this little time. In a way she and Ivan's life was perfectly intertwined, two puzzles fitting.
She heard a little scratch of a shoe against the floor and craned her head to the sound suspecting it would be Mr Elliot or the security he threatened her with, but it wasn't her two guesses, rather it was Mrs Vivian.
She straightened herself away from the cot, trying to wipe out the sadness cloaking her being.
"I am sorry about Elliot, but don't take anything he said by heart. You can visit Ivan anytime you want."
She gave a sad smile, "I'd rather not, he gave a sound warning, and I don't want any problem between the both of you because of me. I will keep in touch with Ivan, call daily, and face time ."
His mother returned her smile, came forward and engulfed her in her arms, "You would visit and stay with Ivan as long as you want. I would make sure of it, I promise."
"I would miss him a lot, " she drew from her hold, trying to stop tears from forming.
"I need to go before I get dragged out of here, " she joked, the sarcasm present.
She bid her final goodbye and left, Elliot stood in the shadows of the kitchen watching as she walked past him her fingers dabbing frequently at her eyes.
She sure knows how to act.
He came out to meet the disapproving look of his mother, he didn't bother to buy her emotional blackmail, he tried walking past her but her voice held him back.
"You would get married to her, Ivan needs her more than you and she is perfect for him."
He faced her this time his face had a tight look added to it, "I won't be getting married to anyone for as long as I live. I made that promise to Audrey and won't go back on it for anyone."
"Even for your son?"
He can't possibly answer that, Ivan doesn't need that woman and he will prove that to his mother.
