Death

I placed her head into my lap, smoothing her hair I placed a kiss to her forward and silently said I was sorry.

The Pack was destroyed, my mother's head rested in my lap lifeless. What happened? I came home and saw everything destroyed. The house, the grounds, my people. Everything was gone as far as I could see.

"Artemis, is that you?" a faint voice spoke from my father's office

I ran at the sound of my father's voice in hopes that he could tell me what happened.

"Daddy!? Daddy what happened! Why is everyone dead? Where is Apollo or even Drex?" I grabbed my father's hand and prayed to the Goddess he would survive.

"Drex betrayed us. Apollo ran with those he could at my order to the nearest pack to survive. I don't know why he did this..."

"Oh Alpha Adrian, it's quite simple really. I want your power, your money, your life. Oh and your daughter's hand in marriage." Drex spoke from the door

I spun on my toes ready to attack, though my wolf wasn't fully hear I could hear her echo starting to come through.

"SLEEP!" A new voice spoke from a dark corner

before I knew it I saw black

"MARGO!" I shot straight up and felt the burn of chains on my wrists

"I'm right here girl. I am sorry they knocked me out in the living room before I could get to you. Are you alright?"

"I am fine, are you? Did they hurt you?" I tried to see her in the dark but I couldn't see anything

"It's not midnight yet, I can see you though. You don't seem to be hurt, nor am I. We seem to be in some kind of basement or something." She seemed so close to me

"It was Drex. My father said he turned on our pack before I was knocked out. My father! he was still alive. Margo do you see him in here with us?" I started to pull against the chains but all that happened was a burning smell and an excruciating pain "AHH!"

"Your father is dead, I am Alpha of this pack now. Since your coward of a brother has run away. I will take you as my bride and we shall rule the Moonlight Pack together as Alpha and Luna. Our mating will take place as the moon rising tomorrow night, the night of your birthday. Get some rest it will all be happening soon."

As Drex left I heard a clock chime, it was midnight on my 18th birthday.

"Happy Birthday Apollo, wherever you might be" I looked up and saw the full moon rising in the window just above my cage.

"Happy Birthday Artemis, I am sorry it's not what it was supposed to be, but if you want to shift I'll watch over you while you do." Margo said sorrowfully towards me.

"Thank you. You really are my best friend." So I closed my eyes and called to Mystery

"OH MY GOD" I hear Margo say so low I barely heard her "Artemis you are pure white, damn near silver! Except for this one mark on your forehead. It's jet black." I looked at her and her eyes were the size of saucers.

I lifted my head and howled to the Goddess for the loss of my pack, my mother, my father and for the loss of Margo and mines future.
