Apollo's POV

I couldn't believe it they were all gone. I felt every member of my pack pass and I could see the moments all my friends parents had passed for they all started crying as well when the connection was lost to them.

"We are sorry for the loss of our pack and your families. Is there any more coming?"

I heard the power in this newcomers voice and saw how young he was maybe a few years older then I and knew it had to have been Alpha Andrei my father spoke of. 

"Yes, I need to reach my sister and her guard Margo before they head back to the compound and discover the c*****e and sorrow. My name is Apollo by the way and thank you Alpha Andrei for the warning letter to my father." I reached out my hand to shake his in a sign of respect and he did the same

"I have herd that it is your 18th birthday at midnight and you will be shifting for the first time. If you would like we can run together and I will aid you in discovering what you are able to do as the new Alpha of the Moonlite Pack."

"Thank you, I'd appreciate the help. My father told me it is not like a normal wolf's shift."

"He was correct in this. When becoming an Alpha you get the gifts that come with it. Enhanced speed and strength and also the ability to connect with not only your wolves but those around you as well. I will help you control this."

After shaking his hand we made our way back to our Jeeps and drove up to the house. This compound was different then any other I have seen. The Alpha's house is the very first and the roads split and go around it leading to the rest of the pack homes and buildings that are located on site. 

Apollo is this normal? I thought the pack was to protect the Alpha and Luna not the other way?

Traditionally Axel I think your right, but I don't think this Alpha thinks the same and honestly I agree. The first home should be that of the Alpha and Luna.

Andrei was smirking and I had a feeling he just heard what Axel and I were saying, but had the respect not to say anything. We were lead straight into the main home and into the kitchen where food had been placed out for us along with drinks.

"Please sit and eat with us and let us salute those that have perished today for they are with the Goddess."

"Andrei I need to find my sister and Margo before they go back to find the battle field that await them."

"I am afraid your sister has already done so along with her guard Margo. They have been taken by Drex and if I am correct he will take her as his Luna during the full moon's rise."

"Then what are we waiting for? I need to go back and set her free!" I was furious

"You will loose your life if you do this. That is a fact and not an assumption. Drex is smart, cunning and has killed more skilled Alpha's then yourself. Not to mention that at midnight your wolf will appear and your both need to become one. Then you might stand a chance at fighting him and taking back what is yours. Until then your sister and Margo are on their own."

"How long?" I sighed closing my eyes trying to find her with our link

"If you are patient and controlled, based on the facts that you have had training since a young age. My guess would be maybe six months we can attack and win. Anything before that would result in a loss."

Sighing I mentally thought through what he said and thought about my father and mother and what they would do and decided he was right.

"My father sent us to you for your aid. He knew you were strong and we'd be able to learn from you and your pack. Though I am not happy about leaving my sister or Margo in Drex's hands for a minute longer you are  correct that we need to calculate and train in order to defeat him and his followers correctly."

Nodding Andrei spoke again "Very well, we will start in the morning after you have had a good nights rest after your first shift. Speaking of" He glanced at the clock on the wall "We should move you to the back yard."

As we stepped into the backyard I couldn't help but think of Artemis. Happy birthday dear sister, I wish you safety and strength. May our Goddess protect you and aid you in these next few months and I will be there soon.

I opened my eyes and howled to the full moon, folding in on my self I felt the change sweep over my body like a warm blanket at first. Then a heat like nothing I have ever felt crashed through me like a tidal wave knocking me to all fours. Panting I could hear Andrei speaking to me and I followed his voice.

"I know the heat is intense but use it. That is your pack. Draw on their strength and warmth and let them in. They are yours, they are your family. That's it! Deep breaths."

I could feel my friends, my family, my pack circling me lending me their strength. Slowly I stood up and opened my eyes.

 I am Maverick and I am pleased to be with you Apollo

Raising my head I howled. I howled for the loss of my parents, the loss of my pack. I howled for the revenge I promise will happen and the promise to find my sister.
