The Rejected Luna

Chapter 5

Jack and C had thrown me a surprise party at the town central. It was a difficult place to rent but Jack had used his connections as a Beta to make it possible. He was trying to impress me and I knew it, but I was still flattered.

I watched him dancing near the bonfire and he looked so beautiful, he was so happy. I had accepted his proposal in the morning, it was only right. My fantasy dreams don't matter, I love Jack and that is all that matters. I had to do it quickly to avoid other distractions from coming along, like last night with Grey. My body stiffened as I remember last night, my cheeks started turning red.

"Hey, are you alright? Your face is really red", Clair had sat down beside me and I hadn't even noticed. "Yeah I'm fine", I replied, getting up, "I just need some air, I'll be back", I said and started walking uphill. "Okay, but don't go too far", Clair shouted out after me.

I had walked a little while and stumbled on a stone. That was when I realized I had climbed all the way up Mount Zuma while I was thinking about last night with Grey. "Great Sierra, just great, what the hell was I thinking". I was looking around to see if I could find my usual route down hill. I really needed to stop climbing up this hill. It was dangerous around this time of the year as this was when hunters from the neighboring packs searched the mountains to kill any intruders crossing the borders. They did it because this was their spiritual month where they offered sacrifices to their ancestors, the sacrifices being the killed intruders. "Found it".

"Sierra Sierra Sierra, long time no see", Jazz was climbing up the path I was about to take down the heel, "if I didn't know better I would say you have been avoiding me, but we are friends, aren't we?", she said coming closer to me, her wicked smile brightening up her face, I nodded getting scared. "That's why I followed you up here, to talk to my dear friend about what a b*tch she is". She said as she shoved me forcefully to the ground.

"What's the matter with you, Jazz? Why do you keep bothering me, haven't you had enough already?", I said frantically as I got up from the ground, I wasn't going to let her bully me anymore.

"I should be asking you that. Haven't you had enough already? It wasn't enough for you when you bewitched Jack. Now you are making him marry you, huh?", she shoved my shoulders. "It's not my fault that he loves me and not you, okay? Get over him already, you look pathetic".

"How dare you?!!!", Jazz shouted as she slapped me. I shoved her and slapped her back, "Cut it out already Jazz, your bullying is getting old".

What happened next was something I had never expected. Jazz started to wolf out. I watched in horror as she grew bigger. I couldn't stand a chance against her, she was already stronger than me as a human, talk less of as a wolf. I started turning too. I had first turned exactly a year ago on the night of my birthday, so my wolf wouldn't be as strong as Jazz who had started turning 4 years ago. I still didn't stand a chance, even as a wolf like I wasn't going to run away anymore.

"Do you think you stand a chance against me?", Jazz said, laughing as she completely turned into her wolf form. She howled loudly and charged towards me, grabbing my furry neck between her teeth as she flinged me from left to right. I cried in pain and jammed both of us into a tree to separate myself from her. She didn't give me enough time to recover as she grabbed my left forelimb with her teeth and bit into it forcefully. I winced loudly in pain and started limping away. She charged straight at me and tossed me with her head into the air and I flew to the edge of the cliff, just managing to dig my claws into the edge of the cliff before I fell off. I was scared and howled frantically in defeat.

Jazz stood above me and turned slowly back into her human form, "You should have known your place, now you would die either by falling off the cliff or by being killed by Zu hunters. Now Jack would marry the only true love for him. Happy death day Sierra", she turned and walked away.

I howled at her, desperately hoping that she would turn around and help me. She didn't. I was too scared to turn back into a human because I was scared that my human hands wouldn't be able to hold on to the cliff, but my claws were slowly slipping because of my wolf's weight.

'Mother, please help me', I thought to myself as my claws slipped to the end of the cliff. With tears dropping down my furry face, I closed my eyes and let go of the cliff.

I wasn't falling though, 'What is happening?' I opened my eyes to see a figure standing above me, holding my two hands tightly. I couldn't make out the person but it seemed to be a man, he pulled me up carefully and placed me against a rock. I squinted, trying to make out his features.

"Are you okay?", he leaned closer, whispering into my ears, 'Why was he whispering?'.

Suddenly a scent filled the air around me, it was so strong and sweet, I couldn't breathe and I gasped. "Shhh". The strange man said, placing a finger against my lips. Hunters were passing by, so we had to be quiet.

I was slowly getting aware of my surroundings and we were hiding behind a large rock. I was lying on a smaller rock and this man was lying over me, supporting his weight with his two hands.

I could feel every inch of his body against mine and I wanted him to stay the way he was even though I didn't know who it was, his scent was so sweet. My n*****s hardened, 'Wait, am I naked?', I tried to get my hands to cover my breasts but I couldn't move my hands, I was too weak.

I moaned slowly and winced in pain. His scent filled my nose as he turned to face me in the dark.

"They are gone now", he said, standing up. I heard the sound of clothes moving, he placed a jacket over me, 'Could this be my mate? Is it the mate smell that is consuming me and making me mesmerized by this stranger? Who is he?'.

"Who...?", I made an attempt to ask who he was, but the pain was too much.

"You will be alright Sierra", he said and leaned in, he took in a deep breath like he was smelling me and then he kissed me on my forehead very slowly.

"Happy birthday Sierra", he said in the dark and I could hear his smile.

"Grey?", I managed to say before blacking out.
