CHAPTER 3: THE COMPETITION OF WEAPONS

It was morning, the next day and I had to make necessary preparation for the competition. I had my aide judge Vanessa take care of the registration protocol while I appointed officials for the competitions everyone had a week to register for the competitions, after appointing officials for the competitions I almost forgot to map out the rules, I also tasked out Vanessa with the organisation of the competitions ranging from the hall, rooms which would be used by the competitors, equipment and facilities which would be used throughout the competition. After that was done I began calculating the duration of the competition after careful calculation I estimated the competition would take a month or two to hold, seeing we had no much time my aide and the officials planned  to keep the duration of the competition steady and not allow it exceed anything  I calculated. The date was fixed and it was left with the rules, this I had to contact the officials and we carefully mapped out the rules of the competition. The rules where to be changed after every level and also was to be mentioned during every level of the completion. The hectic week of preparation was passed and all was set. It was now left for the competition, but before the competition we also made preparation on how to transport the competitors to the venue prepped for the competitions.  The first week of arrival was meant for confirmation of competitors and the competitors to familiar themselves with each other and to know more about themselves, before the competition proper. The next week was the week of the competition. The caretakers of the competition Leron which was appointed by my aide Vanessa on my account, the caretakers was to send guidelines to all the competitors throughout the competition. The competition was set to begin by 4:45pm on the dot, which would proceed with introduction and welcome speech by me after the introduction and speech given by me. Leron took over and addressed the competitors and familiarized them with the first rule of the competition and the first level of the competition and what was to be done. The main competition was to begin at 8:50pm. All competitors were summed to the grand hall for briefing after the wake up alarm sounded, all 2000 competitors rushed down stairs to the grand hall. Leron briefed them about the first level of the competition and how is going to be, he then separated all competitors into their various category and given their challenge. Leron stated the rule of the first level for them before they began, now the rule of the first stage are these, you all at the various category are prohibited to use cheat equipment. You all are meant to build manually, this to test your speed how far you can think and your functionality without equipment. After saying the rules he now shared their challenges, now without too much of time. These are what each category would be doing for the first level, the first category, The WEAPON ENGINEERING AND FUNCTIONALITY category your challenge is to create a manual weapon capable of killing zombies, using old material from the 21st century and it’s to be done manually. The next category SYSTEMS CONTROL category your challenge is hack and reprogrammed an A-level 21st Century Alien ware System manually no disk hackers, no LAN-WIRE reprogramming just your hands, the third category the FIBRE OPTICS ENGINEERING CATEGORY, your challenge is to create or design any weapon external body manually no computers allowed and no 3D printers allowed. Winners will be judged based on their durability, functionality and effectiveness. And the last category SYSTEM SECURITY CATEGORY your challenge is to create a micro A.I functional enough to track heat signatures of any living thing an non-living thing in any area, anywhere, your will be judged based on the speed of tracking, accuracy and ability to decipher things solution or problem. All these should be done manually no cheat materials or equipment, the materials provided for you are 21st century materials and are what to be used during this level. Duration of this level is 3 days, you will submit your work at 3:00am of the third day, thank you and lets all begin. Grab all you need from the resource room downstairs on the third level of the facility each category will be proceeded by an instructor the four instructors will show you to each of your resource room on the third floor and they will guide you on the equipment and materials to use, they will also be invigilators for this level, they will be monitoring your every move to check if you are cheating, cheating in this competition leads to disqualification so go now and grab all your gears and everything you need , make your plans, rest if you wish to and begin your work. Good luck and remember you are all being streamed life round the island. And now the competitors had already begun some took what they needed and returned to their bed room to rest while some did not rest after they picked what the needed they began working immediately with no time to waste and limited duration for the first level. They decided to start working. Majority of the competitor that slept were mostly the system control category thinking that there was not to create but reform what has been created seeing this, they felt it was easy and not difficult, the few among them, who refuse to rest well may be taught, that having to hack and re-programme an Alien ware System from the 21st century manually without using any advanced equipment pose a form of difficulty for them. Having ascertained the situation they began work immediately. Well I, my aide and the officials all watched from a distance as the competition proceeded. Next morning as early as 6:00am, the competition alarm sounded as if it was day one of the first level challenges, all competitors were meant to be set and report to their various laboratory and workshop before 7:30am. At 7:00am competitor began trooping into the hall as their instructors show them to their various laboratory and workshop according to their category, everyone began work at 7:30am on the lot the once who already stated their work yesterday might resume from where they stopped, while those who rested for today started theirs. The facility was bobbling and lively, the whole island felt alive with everyone streaming the competition live. I could feel the joy of every survivor on the high land. The day proceeded alongside the competition, competition was going to be a tough one, I knew it n my heart that the competitor were going to go hard because this is the fight for their life and future as the survivors of the human race. Day one was almost gone although Leron the caretaker did not mention the number of people that will be going out in each category, after the first level at first, he decided he was going to say it on the conclusion of day one which was to night. First day was concluded with the competition ending by 11:00am, Leron told every competitor the number of people that will be removed in each category if they lost. Now I forgot to tell you all during the briefing when you were all shared into your various categories the amount of people that will be going out from each category if they should loose, with everyone contemplating and whispering to one another the uncertainty of what Leron was about to say the grand hall was a bit noisy, Leron cuts in seeing the uncertainty on their faces he said, calm down, calm down all of you, it was a mistake by me which I am ready to fix, but first I would have to speak with the leader of the island on what to do, he then sends me a message saying “ sir seeing the number of people that would be knocked and our mistake of not telling from the unset shouldn’t we give them much time to bring out their best” he then continues to address the competitors, alright now the amount of people that would be knocked out at the end of this first level are eight hundred in number, two hundred from each category everyone exclaims, and they complains began kicking in. Leron begin uncertain of what to tell them and how to calm them down became speechless, he waited for my reply, when suddenly after deep thought and contemplating with the officials of the competition we came to a conclusion that two more days be added to the first three days of the first level. I told my aide to pass on the message to him. He got the message and a sense of control came, he then announced to them the news “after carefully thoughts and examine of the present situation, knowing that it was a mistake from the council, we the council have decided to add two more days to the original three days you all had, hope this will compensate for the mishap” after he read the message sent to them, there was calmness in the hall as everyone began celebration and rejoicing seeing that their time has increased. Despite giving them more time I was certain that a whole bunch of them would slack off thinking that they now have extra time to spare. Well the time for the submission still remains the same every creation should be submitted  by 3:00am of the last day while those that were no creating anything will be checked before the results will be mentioned on the last day of the first challenge, my name still remains Leron and I am you care taker , good luck. The competitors all retired to their rooms for resting, late working was also prohibited, so the laboratories and workshop were all locked for day. The next day came with a rush, all competitors running like they just had a panic attack, all rushed down to the work floor the laboratories and workshop where all open by 6:00am, Leron as always ran a check on all facilities to see if they were stable for use. At about 8:30am all competitors were down at the work floor beginning from the various levels they stopped at everyone was so busy, because no one  wanted to be left out, no one wanted to lose they all had a winning and competitive spirit but whatever they did, it never changed the Fact that some were bound to lose. Back at the observatory room I, my aide and other officials watched everyone carefully while sipping a hot cup coco coffee, we all watched to our amazement as the wondrous and captured innovations caught our eyes and captured our minds with these, all these things we are seeing I think we might have a hard time finding the winners and the losers of this competition said one of the officials who was one of the representatives of the continents of the world based on the island Mr Xorn. We continued observing them until it was time we took a break, time passed as the competitors were all done for the day. Next up day three of the first competitors were all up and doing, we stayed in our same spot observing them, it got a little bored we decided to leap out and do more interesting things. I and my aide had to attend to other needs while the other officials went to attend to other roles as representatives. It was time I started drafting out the next plans and movements. After the competition was over, I mapped out certain groups that needed to be in place, of course very important groups, while the position of the forge masters was to be certain and also the positions of people who would be working under them was to be filled, I had other groups which were important, example of these groups are, the war group or in simplification. Soldiers who would be under the war council which in recall I hadn’t chosen yet so with this in mind I tasked my aide with the mission of finding capable hands to fill in the positions listed under the war council. The next group to be listed was just the justice group or as I decided to name it the justice bureau. This group would include a whole lot of positions ranging from justice lord, justice masters, bar men, justice defectors, these would be the people responsible for finding information on crimes, they would include, detectives and investigators of the law, hopeful I would have some of these people on this island, and one last position which would be grand justice master. He or she would be the over seer of all justice matters. As I did this time past and while my aide was out on her mission I decided to take a rest. It was 8:00pm in the night and the competitors were already exhausted at 9:00pm after taking a shower I slept off, Leron stopped the competition by 10:30pm and all competitors went to sleep. On the fourth day instead of going to the observatory I choose to stay home drafting out more important groups for the well being of the people on the island I had thought and decided to map out a science group which I named bureau of science and technology, those groups wasn’t a problem because I could just give out an employment message and wait for the vacancies to be occupied then I was going to select the heads that would oversee the productivity and effectiveness of the bureau meanwhile down at the work floor competitors were almost done with their work as if it was to be submitted 3:00am the next day, Leron gave them the grace of working throughout the night meanwhile I messaged me aide and asked how far her mission was, and she replied in no time, stating that the mission is hectic and not as progressive as expected, as at 2:00am  I and the officials were seated at the observation hall as Leron announced the deadline of one hour left followed by a large display of the  remaining time on a bill board in the workshops and laboratories, competitors rushed and rushed as it was time up for them. At exactly 3:00am they were all made to submit and take a leave. After all creations were submitted and those who were not creating but hacking systems submitted, it was obvious that many of them weren’t able to beat the deadline manually, some solved half way and couldn’t go further, while some finished. All competitors returned back to their various rooms and after close examinations on the creations looking for results based on efficiency, output and design of the weapons created, we got our results. At 8:00am in the morning all competitors were prepared and came downstairs to the ground hall where the results were called and out of two-thousand participants, eight hundred were knocked out, the remaining one thousand two hundred were to proceed to the next level. Seeing the first level of the competition come to an end I was relieved, it was time for me to leave the hall and retire to my domain but before I leave I tasked Leron to go tell the eliminated competitors to stay, of course they can’t stay in the same room with the winners so they were moved to a secret housing facility where they were to watch and observe closely because they were also needed. After getting that little assignment done, it was time I left the competition ground. Leron admonished the remaining participants and gave them a congratulatory speech, telling them to brace up and bring them all in the next level of the competition. The information about the next level of the competition will be given in two days’ time said Leron as the competitors returned to their rooms.
