CHAPTER 4: COMPETITION OF WEAPONS II

It was the final test day of the competition, after the first level was concluded, Leron was preparing his speech while I was in a deep conversation with my aide Vanessa who was on a mission and I called in asking for mission report. Vanessa how is the assignment going down there when she replied, so far sir recruiting people for these tasks, after two days of searching she then devised a plan to get capable hand. She tasked every continental representative on the island to find a capable hand that will fill the awaiting positions of the war council and they would be screened to get the most capable of them all. She also gave them the time duration. It was evening and Leron summoned every competitor down to the ground hall to communicate the necessary information for the next level of the competition. “All competitors down to the ground hall, all competitors down to the ground hall, all the competitors down to the ground hall” as all the competitors rushed down to the ground hall to see why they were all being summoned. On their arrival Leron welcomes them as he began admonishing them. Welcome all, how was your two days rest, I trust you all had a fun time, now as you all know the competition is not yet over you all were survivors of the first round of the competition and are about to head into the second round , I want you all to bear it in mind that in this next, there would be though assignments, many of you won’t survive in this round and your numbers will be reduced but know this day that you all are part of something great, they key to humanity’s revival, so I urge you all to put in your best no matter what, do your best and never give up because at the end you all are winners. Now to all the information, the second round will be starting tomorrow by 9:00am. The assignments for this second round are, first for the fibre optics design group, you all are to design a functional and complex weapon structure, based on energy control and harnessing. For the next group which is the weapons engineering and functionality category, you all would be remodeling a 21st century weapon into a 25th century advanced weapon, you would all be divided into four groups and choose from these four weapons category to model, they are listed as follows, Guns, Drones, Rocket Launches, Jets. Pick from one of this categories and no collaboration between two people, you are all supposed to work individually but each group will have one weapon to concentrate on. Moving on to the next group, the system security group, you all would be creating a functional data base compiling system. The next group which is the systems control, your assignment is to create a simple weapons control system, you all have two weeks to build and finish your assignments and the amount of people that would be knocked out of this round if they loosed would be mentioned tomorrow. I wish you all good luck, the second round commences by 9:00am tomorrow thank you all and have a goodnight sleep. The next day came and it was time for the second round of the competition to commence, with every competitor scarring workshops scavenging for parts to use for each of their creations, Leron made a live video greeting the competitors and announcing to them the amount of people that would be knocked out of the second round, good morning all, hope u had a good night rest? Like i said yesterday i will be announcing the amount of people that would be knocked out of the second round and this is the cause of the video now in other to advance into the final level of your creation must be efficient, functional and superior which is the bases of winning hundred people would be taken out of each category and those people are the ones with the less superior creation, an inferior creation gives an extremely low point so work hard to create something superior according to your various assignments. He cut the live video, meanwhile back to my manor, in deep communication with my aide, this was her fourth day out but unlike other days today was a bit favorable for seeing that she tasked every continental representative. She had a little progress. The continental representatives of Asia, Africa, South America and North America, provided three representatives each making it twelve people. Without much waste of time she had began screening them, these twelve representatives were officers, generals and commanders in various military groups, but were displaced due to the zombie apocalypse. I already had a little relieve as i was at least a few steps closer to my goal. I was watching the screening process from my manor inside my strong room, I was the one to determine if they fit for the council after series of questions administered by my aide and also the combined intellectual course she put in place for the screening. After all the screening process which ended past 10 in the night we got four people to fill in the positions of their war council leaving only three spots  open. I ended the communication for the night when he told me that she is positive by tomorrow the screening process and the search for worthy ones would end. Meanwhile at the competition ground many of the competitors were exhausted as today’s competition was supposed to end by 11:00pm and tomorrows own begin by 8:00am. I stayed a little while up as the A.I announced to the competitors to round up and arranged the tools and equipment. It was 10:50pm I then decided to get to sleep, I went out of my strong room and entered my bed room where I took a cool shower and jumped into my bed. Finally Leron buzzed that time I was up as it was as it hit 11:00pm and all the competitors returned to their various rooms getting ready to sleep and contemplate on the next day. The next day I started as I woke up to great news, my aide had already received eight more people from the remaining two continents which were Europe and North America each brought out four representatives, after preparing I went down to the strong room to observe the screening process. The competition already started as the competitors went down to their various workshops and laboratories to pick up from where they stopped. My aide judge Vanessa was also on the case of finding capable hands for the war council after putting the remaining eight representatives to the screening test which lasted for about eight hours we finally got the remaining two spots filled, after much jubilation she was like sir I won’t be coming in today and I asked why, she explained that she would have to clear all the equipment's used for the screening programme. I allowed her and cut the video, I left my strong room and proceeded to the competition facility observation box to look around a little while I think of what next to do. Every competition was on their best and were all bringing their A game there was no need for clustering because all six workshops and six laboratories were all spacious, every competitor confirmed to his own space with no way to obstruct one another’s flow of work, I observed from the observation box through the large glass screen placed on the wall of observation box which was a little room capable of holding at least ten people at a time. I watched and observed until something came into my mind which was inauguration, I decided to inaugurate the members of the war council, but I had to choose a specific date for the inauguration. I decided to contact my aide later on this subject matter but for now I had to enjoy myself even if it was for a few moments. It was 2:00pm in the afternoon and the competitors went for a break, I had enough time to speak with my aide concerning the matter but before that I had already picked a date for the inauguration. I called my aide, told her about the inauguration and she said it was okay and very important to do, it was a way of creating awareness to the people that they now have people that will protect them from threats, especially concerning the threats of zombies. We also discussed on how to disperse the information to the people. When she came up with a bright idea of publicity, she suggested the use of drones and live videos on the streets as I announce the inauguration and when it was going to be done I then gave her another task upon her arrival, I put her in charge of publicity concerning the inauguration which was supposed to take place on the next week Wednesday. The now present officials of the war council who were at the capital were alongside six continental representatives also the competitors were told about the inauguration after they all resumed work. Time past as it hit 8:00pm in the night I decided to retire to my home but before that I decided to have meeting with my representative. I called them and informed them about the meeting which would be held tomorrow morning by 10:00am sharp seeing that my aide would be arriving 8:00am tomorrow and  I wanted her there taking notes. The competition lingered for about three hours as Leron dismissed all competitors and they all went to their various rest places. The next day being Wednesday at 8:00am my aide arrived and in less than an hour the continental representative all began to arrive  little by little at 10:am sharp, the meeting began. It was a meeting concerning the next step to follow after the fourth coming inauguration. Now I Know that the inauguration was seven days away and it was too soon to call for meeting of such manner, but seeing the threat at hand and not knowing when it would arrive it was better to plan ahead and not be taken unawares. The meeting began i as introduced the purpose of the meeting asking them to decide the way forward after the forth coming inauguration. Sir Morgan freeman who was the representative of Europe spoke up saying that since the position of the war council was complete it was only right for us to proceed with the selection of soldiers, people who would be working under the war council. Miss Aleyah Gracia, Lady Ahmed Zara and Mr Femi Seyi all supported the motion. Father Xorn opposed saying instead of proceeding with the selection why don’t we reconsider making a justice bureau, I mean the people need this more than the selection. Lady Ahmed Zara cuts in, father Xorn it’s obvious that the people needs to be protected from the threat beyond this island the zombies are out there, there could be an invasion any minute, we don’t know what may happen and mind you the people needs to be protected from themselves, what do you mean by that father Xorn as I asked him, well sir what I mean is that taken the situation economy on ground people are still getting themselves together as a result of the apocalypse. The poor among the citizens of this island might result to stealing and violence, most of the rich people oppress the poor, they look at them as filthy rags the poor people needs to be fought for, they need to be protected against the rich people. If not we might destroy all what we are slowly trying to build. Sir Hashimoto Todoki cuts in as he agreed to what father Xorn has said. After a few pondering on the matter I came to a certain decision, it is obvious that our economy is still on the healing phase and in other to sustain it we have to bridge the gap between the rich and the poor by providing assistance to the poor and creating laws to benefit the growing economy and the poor masses, by restricting the excess of the rich and noble people on this island. Therefore I have decided to go with implementing the justice bureau, because if we don’t put on this impending threats we won’t stand a chance against the zombies. So it decided the next thing forward is opening a justice bureau and Ambassador Femi I would like you to get me a compiled data of the people on this island. After the long deliberation everyone dispersed except my aide who asked what i was going to use the name for I decided it was personal and when the time comes it will be revealed, she gave me a soft smile and said you are a man of secrets sir hope your instincts are right. Time past as it was time for the inauguration the day came and it was thrilling as every citizen on the island cheered with an overwhelming joy seeing that they now have people to protect them from threats outside the island. The inauguration went well and most of all was very successful, the day past and the long awaited inauguration was over the competition was still ongoing as it was remaining three days to go after a hectic day, everyone retired to their various homes, as the competition ended by 9:00pm for the day due to the inauguration ceremony but there was still an option of staying till 11:00p which was the original closing time. Every competitor took the opportunity to take a break from hard work, my aide and I went to have a little fun, and we retired home by 12:00 then I fell asleep immediately due to extreme tiredness.

          It was the final day of the second round of the competition and all continental representative were all present for the finals, the final day of the second round was filmed over the island as citizens had another scene to view all competitors were all present with their creation as the continental representative, I and my aide all went down from the observation box to pass judgement after scrutinizing each competitors creation and following all criteria stated out to determining the winners of the second round we all came to our judgement, eliminating four hundred competitors as the remaining eight hundred were all congratulated. There was cheer around the island as everyone congratulated all the winners of the second round. After announcing the winners of the second round the losers were all escorted to the secret housing facility where the former eight hundred were kept up until now they all were not aware of why they were being kept there, the only thing they knew was the fact they were still needed. Well after much rejoicing the night ended with a dinner with all participants, they were all dressed fresh and corporately as all representatives from each continent were all present for the dinner, dinner went well and all competitors returned to their resting place for the day. Leron announced that there was going to be a four days rest for all competitors before the third and final round would start.
