Chapter 2

Liam's POV

This time spent at the club was the most wonderful of my life for the first time in 6 years I got closer to my soul mate. I remember the feeling of intense heat I felt when his body was glued to mine. My wolf was gloating hoping I'd claim her right away but I held him back. I'll wait until prom day to declare her mine in front of werewolves and humans. I want everyone to know that she's mine and no one else's. My name is Liam Ford i'm 25 years old and I am the alpha of the wolf-city pack, our earliest ancestors come from a distant tribe we have inherited the sacred power of mutation and the wolf spirit ever since. Our wolf tattoo is living proof that the power of our ancestors sleeps inside of us. In spite of myself my thoughts wandered again towards my meeting with Kurty Kendell, this girl with whom I fell madly in love when she was 16 years old. When our eyes met for the first time that day I had the impression that a world was no longer possible without her. Now that I've grown closer to her after so many years of honoring her mother's promise, I feel happier than ever. I smile like an i***t thinking of her, I wasn't proud to have left like a thief when we were on the dance floor but it was the only way to prevent me from committing the irreparable, to transform her in wolf because for a wolf met his soul mate was the most beautiful thing that could happen but it had harmful consequences because in their presence it was almost difficult to control the beast that sleeps in us. I snap out of my thoughts at his words and stare at him as he bursts out laughing, he knows full well that I danced with Kurty tonight.

-I have no idea what you're talking about, Stefan.

-Are you really sure my friend, you spent the night at the club dancing with that girl you've had a crush on since you were 19.

- I will see her again at the ball, he confessed in the clouds. I'm really looking forward to the weekend.

-It must have been terrible for you Liam spending all his years spying on his soul mate without being able to touch her.

- the day of the ball I intend to remedy it.

The door opened abruptly on Amy my second beta.

-alpha we have a problem in the forest something managed to penetrate our territory and it left strange traces on the trees.

- what exactly are you talking about?

-we can't confirm this but it gives the appearance of a shadow. Usually this kind of thing never happens, but I guess the protective magic of our ancestors must have weakened after so many years.

I followed by my betas went into the forest, I notice burn marks on the tree trunks. I sniffed the air, there was a strong smell of magic.

-I can't determine what it is but we have to be on our guard we are dealing with someone very powerful.

We heard footsteps we looked up and saw the shadow heading to the right. We turn into a wolf and set out to chase him, but a few minutes later the shadow disappeared.

-It's weird Alpha said Amy.

-indeed I cannot afford to let anyone break the laws of our tribe which is to protect the city against intruders and I must do my best to strengthen the magic of our ancestors.

-and how are you going to do it ? asked Stefan.

-I will have to contact one of the elders of the tribe and ask him for help.

-Let me guess, it's Garaud wasn't it ? He is the oldest of all of us as far as i know. He never liked us that one because according to him we are modernizing the tribe. That's why he lives in the middle of the forest in a cabin.

-we have no other choice tonight we have to meet him.

-What ? but…Stefan started to retort however when his gaze met mine he quickly capitulated.

We turned into wolves and in a few minutes we found themselves in front of the old man's cabin and hesitated to enter the cabin.

-You can come in, I knew you were coming.

I was reassured by his words he signaled to my betas to follow me.

- Good evening, I suppose you know why we are here?

-yes, Alpha someone used powerful magic to break the protective power of our ancestors. And all of this is just the beginning, many more will come.

-who are they ?

-they are witch hunters, the first appeared as a scout and will not leave town until he finds the information he is looking for.

-And what do they want from us?

- unfortunately my powers are not powerful enough to be able to enlighten you on this subject.

-thanks for everything, but wouldn't it be safer for you to join the pack with us.

-Liam you know me I prefer solitude.

-I understand, it makes me happy that you help us despite our differences.

The old man smiled warmly, saying:

-I'm always there when it comes to helping. Bye.

We bade him farewell and quickly returned to the pack. I had a meeting with the pack members to update them on the situation and a bit later I returned to my bedroom, my thoughts immediately turned to Kurty and our first meeting if only his mother hadn't erased her memory, she would remember me at this moment. I felt deep inside an irresistible urge to touch her and if i listened to my wolf spirit I would risk going to find her this evening but he suppressed my desire and preferred to wait patiently for the day of the ball, this memorable day when she will be presented in front of everyone so that wolf and human know that she is mine forever and ever.
