Betrothed to the Alpha

Chapter 3

Kurty's POV

I wake up the next day with a terrible hangover, I put my head hoping to calm my headaches but it was impossible.

That'll teach me to party on Thursday night.

I get up with difficulty taking a shower and getting ready for work when I go down to the dining room the smell of raspberry pancakes and bacon eggs makes my mouth water. My father was preparing breakfast.

-Good morning dad.

He spins around noticing my presence for the first time, he smiles at me sadly and I imagine that cause of my hurtful words yesterday his eyes are clouded with sadness.

-how was the party last night ?

I run a hand through my hair, embarrassed, I didn't think my dad would know about my party last night. I cleared my throat as if to give myself more courage and said to him:

-Great, I was with Anna and Ethan in their usual club.

-Alcohol is never the solution you know.

-I had the proof last night, I think I've never drunk so much in my life, now I'm not sure I want to work today.

I take a cup of coffee to ease my headache and hangover.

-Kurty I know you're mad at me about yesterday but I want you to know that me and your mom had no choice. Liam's father before his death was the most respected man in the wolf tribe and no one dared to say no to him. We ended up making this deal with his son.

- I understand dad, wolves are real scourges, I know perfectly well what they are capable of in order to obtain certain things.

-All wolves are not the same Kurty.

- as long as I don't have proof I wouldn't be sure of anything.

My father abandons the discussion because he was aware of my antipathy for wolves.

- are you going to the Alpha ball which will take place this weekend?

-As if I had a choice dad. Could I really go against his will?

-not really the Alpha Liam is the spitting image of his father.

- bossy and narcissistic I guess.

-your words will be completely different when his gaze meets hers.

I pivot to my father on high alert. I've heard of the soul mate bond that when you meet the wolf's gaze you become completely dazed.

-Tell me more, please father.

-when his gaze meets hers, it will create an inalienable bond.

-a bond !

-Yes, your soulmate bond.

-in this case I won't have to look him in the eye anyway I don't even know his face.

- it will not be long.

I blush in spite of myself I eat quickly after saying goodbye to my father I go to the hospital and start my work, it only lasted all day. In the afternoon, I took my lunch break and went to dinner in the hospital cafeteria. Suddenly, whispers in the room so much that it bothered me. I finish my sandwich quickly and ask one of my colleagues Parris why all the noise and he explains to me that there is a problem in room 13 one of the patients is turning into a wolf and the Alpha will not be able to come to time.

-I'll take care of that, I said nonchalantly.

- but you are human he could hurt you, this child is out of control.

I don't listen to him and walk towards the room, where I see a small 8 years old boy with black hair crouching on the floor.

-Hey big guy try to calm down.

-I can't do it, he replied, stepping back.

- Look into my eyes and above all don't be afraid.

His small chocolate eyes stared at me uncertainly but I reassured him by telling him not to be afraid. His eyes instantly return to normal and he runs to take refuge in my arms, I hear applause behind me, which makes me smile heartily.

- Now go back to bed, big boy.

- Thank you very much Miss. My name is Mike.

-nice to meet you Mike, I'm Kurty.

It was nothing that's a pleasure for me.

I stroke his hair and help him to bed, Parris comes over to me congratulating me that the others have stayed behind but I imagine they are afraid to move on for fear the little boy will lose out control again.

-congratulations Kurty you did a great job, I wonder how you could achieve such a feat.

-a stroke of luck.

-Anyway, we didn't think you would be able to handle it. We called the Alpha and he's coming in a few minutes.

-What ? The alpha come here! I exclaimed.

I can't help giving in to my astonishment, deep inside me it's panic that lives in me. I must at all costs find a way to escape from this place and return home. Parris must have noticed the expression on my face as he stares at me strangely.

-uh... I'm a little surprised that's all but unfortunately for me I won't have the opportunity to see him. I don't feel too good I'm going home earlier than usual.

Without another word I run into the locker room and get my things at lightning speed, I rush to the parking lot and start the car. On the way home, the image of an amusement park comes to mind like some kind of flash that goes off automatically, I follow my instincts and drive the car to the park maybe I'll end up maybe I found answers to my questions. Why did my mother erase my memory ? Do me and the alpha already know each other ? I blush in spite of myself, remembering my evening in the arms of this stranger from the club, frankly, the alcohol must still show me in my head. Arrived on the scene my high heels clicked on the ground sweeping around me in search of a clue.

"This way," a soft voice whispered to me.

I am guided like an automaton towards the indicated place, I crossed the various desert corridors of the amusement park.

-That's very weird I mumbled for a while I really thought there was something here.

I was about to turn on my heels I hear the voice again I felt like something was calling me what I compare to madness I touch the bench with my fingertips it felt like I had triggered a cataclysm of flashes and noises of voices jostle in my head, I plug my ears in the hope of hiding them but I was unable to do so and ended up dozing off on the bench very slowly I feel arms embrace me tenderly, I try to open my eyes but I can't. I was curled up in the arms of a stranger, his body heat confused my boiling senses I laid my head on his chest but before falling asleep I heard him say to someone else,

-Take care of the car, I'll take her home.

This voice ! But who is it ? I feel like I heard it somewhere but where?

My tired eyes quickly close as the stranger put me in his car and asked his driver to start.

Liam's POV

I watch her until we get home, she has unconsciously snuggled up to me. I smile sincerely, happy as I've ever been, I press the bell button, Kurty's father opens the door, his gaze wanders over to his sleeping daughter in my arms.

-she was in the park where we first met half-devastated.

-I imagine his memories will resurface soon, that's where you first met.

-She saw some kind of flash.

-How do you know Alpha Liam ?

-it's our soul mate bond Mr. Kendell.

He gets out of my way and leads me into Kurty's room then gently lays him down on the bed. She was sleeping peacefully, I slip my hands in her hair, on her face which I caress with an undisputed softness then I put my lips on her forehead to wish her good night, Kurty ignores that I know that she fled the hospital to avoid meeting me but me and her are more connected than she thinks.
