The Purge

“Okay! Remember that Julie and Nessa have a practice at 4 pm, feed the dogs around 7pm and don’t leave your sisters alone at any time! Next Tuesday is their flight to California! Drive them there and make sure they get on the flight!” Lilith rolled her eyes at her mother. “Yes, I know. I wish you would trust me when I say ‘I will take care of them’ please mom? Trust me,” she said, she went over to the table where the keys were laying. She picked it up and walked over to her mom who was at the door, “You and Dad need this. Julie and Nessa need this. After what happened, you guys need a break. Here” she said and gave her the keys. Her mom took a deep breath and took the keys from her hands. “What about you? Lilith, I know you were close to him…you can come with us.” “I'm fine. I just need to catch up with some work from school. Anyway…you guys have fun.” Julie and Nessa said goodbye to them and they left. A few minutes later Lilith walked them to school. “Now, you guys call me when you don’t feel like staying here okay?” She said as she walked them to school. “We can pull through, right?” She said, looking at Nessa. Nessa nodded and hopped out of the car. They waved her goodbye. Lilith was never too close to them, but she was cool with that. She wasn't their idol, but Robert was. He would make them laugh and feel happy. After he died, Lilith tried to be like him, but they didn’t feel like replacing him. Lilith didn’t want to either. She went back home and went upstairs. Then her phone pinged. Hey, bestie! So there's this party happening next week and I wanted to know if you want to come? Lilith sighed at her phone. Hey...I don’t know with everything that has happened, I don’t think I can.. -Lilith Oh..right. But we all think it's good for you..it's been a long time since we talked..and hung out..please? Robert wouldn’t want you to stop living because of him. -Emma Alright..when is it?-Lilith Yay! On Friday! At 7 pm-Emma Okay...talk to you later-Lilith Lilith sat on her bed. She ended up laying down looking at the ceiling. She took a deep breath and rested her arms on her eyes. She didn’t know what to do. Then she heard a knock on her window. She looked over. It was Dean. Dean was her childhood friend. She used to have a crush on him in 5th grade. She told him, and he didn’t like her back. But now they have become friends. He was always there for her and would always stand up for her. She got up and walked over to the window. Dean gave her a soft smile. She couldn’t help but smile back. She opened the window. “Hello, I don't know if I should scare you or not. Emma told me you were coming to the party,” He said as he went into her room. “Yeah come in,” she said in a sarcastic tone. Dean laughed. “School starts in 10 minutes. Get ready. I will wait for you downstairs.” and opened the door and went downstairs. Lilith sighed. She went to her closet and got dressed. She got her bag and went downstairs to see Dean wasn’t there. “Dean?” She called out but he didn’t answer. She opened the door to see Dean and Clay standing there. Clay went over to go in but Dean pushed him. “Don’t you dare come near her?” He said in a serious voice. Clay looked into her eyes. Lilith looked away. Clay was her ex. He didn’t cheat on her, but he treated her badly. He says “I changed! Please take me back!” She did once, but he lied. He was the same. It’s been 3 months since he tried getting back to her. “Dean, can we go now? "I don’t want to be late,” she said, and closed the door behind her and walked over to his car. Dean was beside her and Clay reached for her hand and pulled her close. “Lilith, please!” He said, but Dean pulled Lilith back and pushed him again. “Don’t touch her. "Touch her again and I will beat the f**k outta you.”He said and grabbed Lilith’s hand. He took her into the car and got to his seat. Then they drove away. “I’m sorry..you had to see me like that but he doesn’t have the right to touch you like that..” He said looking at the road. Lilith looked at the window. She didn’t want to say anything. “Yea..it’s fine. Thank you, i-i just don’t want to talk about it..” She looked at him with a half-smile. He smiled back. Once they arrived at the school, she spotted her friend group. Emma,Liam,Nessa,Justin,Miley,Betty. They have been best friends since 8th grade. Liam is gay. He came out to the group when we were in 9th grade. It was pretty funny because he didn’t mean to come out. He was scared we wouldn’t like him but we supported him. Pretty sure Justin is gay too. Caught them flirty with each other. Justin always denies it and Liam always makes a face. Betty also came out as Non-Binary. Their pronouns are They/Them. We were also supportive of them. Nessa is a crackhead in the group always willing to party. She always brings fun to us. She always makes us laugh. Miley is a new friend in the group. She and Lilith aren’t very close. They don’t really talk too much either. Emma is the mom in the group. She is always caring for one of us. And is very sweet. We can all come for her so we can get some good advice. Then she spotted posters on the walls. We miss you, Robert! Fly high! We love you! And will never forget you! Robert Daiz Min's memory is today. “I.. I don’t think I can go in..” she said looking away from the posters. Dean sighed. He put his hand on her shoulder. His hands were warm. “Lilith..you can. If you can’t I will drive you back home..please just try..” He said and grabbed her bag from the back seat. She looked up. He handed her bag to her and smiled. She nodded and opened the door. They walked over to the group. Emma ran over to Lilith. She gave her a warm and tight hug. “Lilith! You came!” and let go of the hug. Everyone gave her a hug but Miley. They just waved hello. “Emma we should go now...I... got a call from my teacher...I need to pick something up..” Lilith said while she looked at her phone. Emma nodded and made Lilith follow her inside. “What do you need to pick up?” “Roberts stuff...then the speech for his memorial.” Emma didn’t say anything else. We finally got to the classroom. Students were inside. They looked at her. Some with petty. Others didn’t like him but still cared. The teacher got up and had his bookbag. She walked over to her. She hugged her and whispered, “I'm sorry..” She looked into Lilith’s eyes and gave her the bag. “About the speech...I can’t do it..” She said and she could feel all the stares. She saw in her teacher’s eyes that she could understand. She lost her kid to cancer. Lung Cancer. Robert did too. She nodded and hugged her one more time. After that, They left the classroom. Outside the door, she saw Dean standing there. Lilith looked at Emma and said goodbye. Lilith sighed and walked outside with Dean to his car. “Sorry...I just couldn’t stand being in there with many people staring at me..” Dean opened the door. “It’s fine...I’m just glad you came for a few minutes..” And Lilith went inside and waited for Dean to come inside but Miley called out for him. He looked at me and put his hand out to ‘wait for me’ motion. What does she want from him?... Does she like him?... She looked closer to them. Miley had her hand on his chest. Dean was blushing. What the hell? Since when are they so close?!...Does he like her?... Then Dean put his hands over her hands where they were still on his chest. He pulled her hands off and whispered in her ear. Now this made her somewhat uncomfortable. Dean knew that she didn’t like her. She would hit on Clay many times. Now dean is under her spell. Dean started to walk back to the car and Lilith looked away as she wasn’t spying on them. Dean got inside and took a deep breath. He was still blushing. Lilith was upset. She didn’t like him but it hurts for some reason she can’t pick out. “Sorry about that..Miley wanted me to help her with something..” He said, as he started the car’s engine. Lilith put her seatbelt on and looked at the window. “Do you like her?” She asked and felt the awkward silence and waited for him to answer. He never did. She looked over to him. He was red. “Can we not talk about her..you want me to pick you up for the party?” He tried to change the subject. Lilith grin. “So you do? I saw the way you blushed when you were talking to her.” She said and sighed. Dean didn't say anything. He took a deep breath.
