Ivy’s POV
I couldn’t eat. I couldn’t sit. I just kept walking from one room to another like the walls were too close, like the house couldn’t hold all the fear inside me.
Leon was gone.
He had left with blood in his eyes and anger in his chest. He didn’t even change clothes. He just got into the car and told his men to drive. He didn’t say goodbye. He didn’t promise to be safe.
And now he had been gone for too long.
Every sound outside made me freeze. Every shadow made my heart jump. I kept touching my belly, trying to calm the baby, but really, I was trying to calm myself.
I was scared.
Scared that the man I loved might not come back.
The clock kept ticking, slow and cruel. Emily checked on me twice, then gave up. She knew I couldn’t be talked out of this worry. She left me alone
