“If there's one of these infected here, then there's probably more around the corner?" he thought to himself as he raced through the outpost.
"I have to get out of here but not with that thing after me." he thought, "Maybe I can slow it down."
He looked both left and right trying to see what he can and can't grab.
There were boxes, different unusable items that his visual came in contact with.
He doesn't hesitate for a split second and swiftly takes them one after the other and hurls it back at the infected.
Alex made a few perfect strikes, knocking the infected back. He saw it, its movements and focus had dwindled a bit but not for long.
He came straight back to the exit he had arrived through and tried to burst his way out.
However, the door didn't budge open. Why did it have to be now?
All of the sudden, the door had become a major problem.
He shifted his gaze back to the stair, loud deafening shrills escaped the upper region. The sound of things breaking and of it getting closer.
His gaze fell back to the door, and back to the staircase. At any moment now, the Infected would be down here and probably feast on him.
He needed a way out of the outpost, the idea of staying there with the infected wasn't so nice. He took his time and scanned the outpost lower region.
Using his x-ray vision, he did a quick check of the outpost “There are not so many rooms to hide in.” He said to himself, “No matter where I try to hide, that thing will surely find me and it's game over.”
He wasn't lying because the crawlers were known for their great sense of smell,
Alex swallowed hard and still tried to force the door open, continuously jabbing the door with his elbow.
Nothing was working and the sounds from the upper region got louder indicating the creature was close to the stairs and would burst down at any moment.
He didn't have an option.
He couldn't just stand there. Fate might have decided to play a cruel joke by putting him in this spot but he wasn’t going to let it win.
He took a turn on his right and wandered further into the interior parts of the outposts. “There has to be another exit.” Alex ran his hand across his hair and searched thoroughly with his x-ray vision.
Suddenly Alex smelt the putrid scent of the crawler, it was close.
The mindless runt took a stand, its hideous form pointed in the area Alex had gone into. His taste of human flesh spiked its senses and its legs broke into a sprint!
Alex's heart sank, he could cure them but that would mean he had the life of another human to take care of.
Trent had been taken from him, Alex couldn't afford any more casualties.
He also couldn't bring himself to kill these things, knowing they were still humans underneath the skins.
Alex acted fast, raising his iron rod, he broke the door knob and kicked the door ajar.
He didn't wait, he jumped in and shut the door.
Barricading the door with some boxes, Alex knew he wouldn't enjoy his peace for long.
He looked through the space under the door.
His eyes found the shadow of the crawler passing through, hideous shrills filled the air, the smell of blood glared into his lungs.
He kept quiet for a moment, his hand gripped tightly around the hilt of his sword.
If anything, and the creature sensed him and tried to force its way in… then, he wouldn't have a choice.
But before his thoughts could be fully processed, the shadow of the infected left.
Alexander turned his x-ray vision on and searched for the infected.
He could still see it, but since the crawler was out of his area, he could relax a little.
“This means that thing can be anywhere in the outpost now.” He said to himself. “I will just have to wait… and figure something out so I can get out of here without a scratch.”
He let out a tired breath and turned back into the room he was in, completely dressed by the hands of darkness.
Looking back, Alex felt an unusual feeling ticking out of the dark gaze of the room that studied him.
“Relax Alex…” He shook his head.
He remembered how most of the TV shows he'd watched back in the day held scenarios where the male lead would end up in a room thinking it was a safe haven only to be ambushed by a group of monsters that had been patiently waiting in the dark for him to make a mistake.
Alex had to trust his guts, he took another gaze back at the darkness, his fingers still firmly wrapped around the hilt.
If the crawlers were there, he would have to cut them down.
A blue light flickered on, illuminating the area, and Alex held his breath.
Fear made sweat run down his back.
With crystal clear blue lights that flickered from the panels, Alex found boxes, tons of them with no labels on them.
He calmly approached the boxes and squatted to open them up one after the other.
His gaze lit up immediately as he opened the boxes.
“Food supplies!”
