Chapter 28 I tossed my phone over the bed and walked downstairs while keeping my composure. My back straightened and I pushed any hair away from my face while pinching my cheeks and adding a bit of color to them before appearing in front of Mom. She came home with a dozen of bags and stuffed most of them in the kitchen. Some of the bags were brown, filled with food and vegetables while the other bags were black, resting underneath the counter and I couldn’t see what was inside them. “Did you have anything to eat?” She asked, glancing over her shoulders as I walked inside the kitchen. “Yeah, I had a sandwich, Mom.
