35Lucy picked up her cell phone and searched for Jacques' number.
After she had left France she had imposed on herself not to telephone him again and wait for him to take the first step towards a possible reconciliation, but now Hans felt it necessary for her to see him again.
It had taken all the persuasion Mark was capable of to urge her to call Jacques, as well as the knowledge that Esther's well-being was at stake. She still felt indebted to her for the way she had treated her in the past, so she left for Paris with Hans and Mark.
