1065 Words
Its been years since Allie as felt like she has a home. Always moving onto the next town, the next country. in her short 200 years, short life for her kind, she has felt alone. She has her family, mother, father and sister of course but never a friend never someone more. She wasn't even born yet when her family's clan was slaughtered but she knows the stories well. Her father made sure she knew the loss and the the threat her kind face. Her father was a warrior at one time, but not to her. To her he was a loving father and husband. To her he was gentle. He had train her and her older sister to fight and to control her wolf, but did so in a kind matter. She knew how to track and to kill but has never used her skills. She had a feeling that soon she will have to make the choice, to take a life or to die. She's had a strange feeling almost paranoid feeling lately. Her father hasn't said anything to her or her sister but she knows he feels it too. Something or someone is following them. The have been even more careful and have moved constantly, basically living on the road. Their newest move is been to Montana, they found a cabin to rent that is off the beaten path. Finally a chance to let her wolf run free without worry that someone might see. The latest development in technology has made staying hidden difficult. With the ease of sharing videos on social media in a few seconds has changed how secretive they must be. Something in her gut is telling her that its time for her and Leigh, her sister, to choose. She wasn't sure what they were choosing but knows its will be the biggest choice of their lives. Leigh is so different than her even thought they are twins. They are alike in so many ways and yet so different. Leigh loves the hunt and the kill. She loves the freedom and wildness.Leigh is one with her wolf, they listen to each other and trust each other. She is an alpha all the way.  Allie is scared of what her wolf could do, he wolf was alpha but she wasn't.  Allie wishes she could be more like her sister, to be strong like her sister. She wasn't, she was more afraid than brave. Something was coming, something that scared her and her wolf.  It was winter time in north Montana and snow was abundant. It was beautiful, quiet. It was still like a painting, like the calm before the storm. Her father has been in contact with a team, a team of specialists in Alaska. He suspects they are our kind but has been able to find out much information about them. They were good, and knew exactly how to find out f we are being followed with out getting humans involved. Her father was scared that he wouldn't be able to protect them alone. Her mother was human and therefore vulnerable. When my mother and father were mated she was granted long life but no other gifts. Her fate was tied to my fathers, and his to hers. If I lost one, I would lose both.  Allie had heard stories of the Hunters, and what they can do. It was almost like they had special gifts, and numbers. Thousands of devoted were trained just to hunt and kill us. Scared that we could repopulate. Some secrets they did not know about us is we can only get pregnant by a mate. With so few of us left, and being isolated from humans as much as possible made finding mates almost impossible. Even if we did find a human mate, humans were not so understanding. Not all humans accepted their mates, and chose a life without them. The humans seem to live with the decisions, our kind not so much. A mate rejecting us was difficult to live with and most didn't. Suicide is taboo to us, but it does happen rarely, and usually when rejected by our mates.  Allie had been so scared of the heartache and pain she never even put herself out there. She was terrified that her mate might be human and not accept her she stayed far away. Leigh on the other hand had no fear. She even tried dating a few times, not that it went anywhere. Her kind can tell if someone is there mate instantly. They can just pass by them in the street and smell them and just know. Its a scary thought to know that in an instant you could no longer live just for yourself. So Allie avoided people, she was happy to be alone.  He father looks to of aged twenty years in the last few months. His stress and worry had been growing in her mind. He won't say what he is thinking or fearing. He has been pushing her and Leigh to train everyday/ He asks so many questions about what we have seen our runs, what tracks are in the snow and made by what or who. I know something is wrong with him, he doesn't train with us anymore. He's always so tired and weary looking.  As she looks out over the snow hills and woods she takes off in a run on two legs and before her third step her body contorts and changes into a wolf and into the woods she runs. The woods come alive with the sounds of animals scurry and running away from her. Her wolf is something to behold. Large and grey with just a hint of red fur around her ears and tail. She lifts her head to smell the clean scent of the snow falling when she sniffs her sister. So Leigh is out for a run as well. She follows her sisters trail, and find her playing in the stream. Her sisters wolf is beautiful, dark red fur covers her body with back accents around her legs and ears. Leigh looks up and playfully lunges at Allie, and soon it turns into a full on wrestling match between them, neither one backing down. A howl from the cabin grabs their attention and soon both are racing back to the house. They already know the loser is on dish duty for the week.
