Chapter 16

Tera

I was Jonesing for a hot bath and a bottle of wine whe n i reached the cabin. I turned the knob and stepped into a p**n video. In the few shocked seconds it took my brain to register what i was seeing. I stood riveted, on the threshold, flooding the hallway behind me with blaring technopop.

I had time to hastily slap the door behind me. Jean was spread eagled down on the floor butt naked , Alex was banging the hell out of her.

I threw my head back and screamed and was ready to turn back and ran but Alex heard me.

There was a brief flash of embarrassment and guilt on Alex . And then he shot me a cocky smile "there's room for one more, if you care to join us"

I headed down the hallway to the guest bedroom kicking off my heels en route. I reached the bathroom and hit the shower in less than a minute. I stayed out of the range of the spray until the water warmed, and then i stood directly beneath it. Too tired to stand for long i sank to the floor and just sat beneath the stream with my eyes closed and my arms wrapped around my knees.

After a long relaxing bath i collapsed on my bed letting the mattress envelop my tired body. I just slept in my mickey mouse tshirt.

A persistent bussing sound dragged me again out of another heated Alex dream. This past few days, i haven't been able to stop thinking about him.

Dreams of Alex plagued me every time i tried to sleep which was quite disturbing considering the way he was treating me. I groped at the nightstand and found my phone squinting at the screen it was two am. I decided to go outside for some fresh air since i couldn't go back to sleep right away.

I put on a heavy cardigan over my mickey mouse and my fluffy sandals and walked out. I decided to go to the gazebo and just sit there taking in the silence. But my plan was completely ruined when i got there and found someone had bet me to it.

"Couldn't sleep either?" Alex asked grinning as he stood up as if to welcome me, he was wearing sweat pants and a t-shirt. God he looked beautiful under the moonlight

I froze. I expected Alex to be asleep in Jean's arms i didn't expect to find him out here. My heart Pitter pattered. This had to look really bad. I backed up a step "i will just go"

He strode quickly towards her and caught my hand before i could leave. "Tera"

My whole arm jumped in response to his touch, and i wanted to cry "I just needed some fresh air"

His expression softened "the gazebo is big enough to accommodate us both, you don't have to leave"

I really needed the fresh air my room was suffocating and i could not stop thinking about this man

"I will stay on one condition" i say looking at him, he has a curious face now

"Anything Tera, as long as you Don't ask me to leave"

"No talking, that's all i ask"

"fine by me" he says as he walks to the edge og the gazebo.

It's quiet for a while, and it feels so peaceful i start to relax

"Tera, are you okay?" he says abruptly getting me out of my zone.

I cringed when i heard Alex 's voice slightly irritated "i meant it when i said no talk Alex please"

He is pacing around, i looked at him through the veil of my hair, he halted and shot me an incredulous look

"i just wanted to be alone, and i only stayed here because you promised no talking" i scooped my hair back from my face with an Impatient swipe of my hand.

"its impossible for me to ignore you Tera, i can't act like you are not here" his face was hard and tight. "you are driving me nuts just being in the same room as me"

"it didn't look like that a few hours ago whne i came back to the cabin, plus am just a p********e remember?"

"This is stupid," he said "is this about Jean"

I laugh sarcastically "you wish, i care less what you do with her, am just trying to get through this remaining days and then go back to my actual life be done with this acting"

"What do you mean acting, you know it's much more than that Tera, you are special to me"

"special right" i say rolling my eyes, it's a good thing we are in the dark he can't see me "Is that why you treat me like crap when you are around Jean, because am so special and all?"

I trembled when he gave me a quite frightening gaze. His features were overcome by volatile emotion as he walked until he was mere inches away from me. He tilted my chin uo to meet his gaze." Tera you know it's much more than that, it's not even just s*x with you, you make me feel things i have never felt with anyone before"

"Alex the last time i checked we have never had s*x, remember that's what you told Jean right infront of me" his mouth curved a little

"As raw as you and i f**k, it still is making love. Every time, from the very first time. When am with you i don't think about what you do for a living or that this is a contract" i heaved out a huge breath

"well to me it's just part of my job, nothing more" I say stepping away to the other side of the gazebo, i can feel his eyes on me as i walk away.

"You are in love with Jean, remember? She is the one you love. Am just a good f**k and the reason you feel our s*x intensely is because i literally f**k people for a living so am good at it" with that i walked away back to my room. I was not going to let him to get to me. This had officially become dangerous territory.

"Don't f**k up a good thing again over a good time. I can tell you love her give her a second chance" i shouted as i left.

When Alex walked back into the house to get some water, his step mom was watching him with her arms crossed. Through the display window ahe had a clear view of the gazebo. He was certain she had watched what had just happened between him and Tera.

That woman had his body tied up in so many knots, he could barely see straight, let alone think. All the lines were blurred right now and he was spiraling, he still cares about Jean might even love her but Tera was driving him insane. Tracy his step mom thought Tera was his for Real, she always hated Jean said she was too much of a slay queen.

"Tera" his step mom said as if she was testing the sound of the name.

Alex opened the refrigerator and took a bottle of water

"I like her much better for you than that slay woman you were married to"

Alex rubbed the back of his neck, he couldn't exactly explain to her that he hired her to be his pretend girlfriend.

Tracy laughed and pointed at him

"look at your face, don't try to tell me you don't love her. It's clear as day. Am glad you finally got some good taste in women keep this one." she said smiling "and be careful how you interact with that ex wife of your because yoi might lose Tera because of it, women are jealous and Jean is not any good to you. Bw careful how much time you spend with a woman with another man's ring on her finger"

Alex 's smile froze in place. His step mom was right. He did like Tera, and he wished he didn't. He couldn't distinguish his professional life from his personal life. He might not even want to. But they were in. A fake relationship, and she had just made it clear it was all part of her job nothing personal this wasn't real.

He stared at the ceiling in frustration "you know Jean and i have history and we have been through aloot i just don't know, she said she was leaving her husband"

"Alex having history is not a bad thing, but that does not mean you are meant to be. You had problems way before Zuri died. And i haven't seen you this happy for a while. Jean left, ans now that her marriage is not working shw wants to manipulate yoi using Zuri to get back together, don't let her"

"Hod do you know she didn't make a mistake and she just realized it"

"Because she came back the moment news spread that you were in love its not a coincidence, she is not good for you but that Girl Tera, she is a good one"

Alex smiled, Tera was pretty, smart, sweet, caring, brave and she understood him.

Alex switched on the tv as he sat on the couch as Tracy said goodnight and left the roomm he got up again and got a beer from the refrigerator, he was going to drown his sorrows. He popped off the top of his beer with the edge of the table and drank absent minded as he flipped through channels.

"So about your girl..." Jeremy said startling him, he hadn't seen him walk into the room. "How long were you planning to withhold information about her from me"

Alex took a long drag from his bottle. He needed to be buzzed if he was Going to talk about this with his best friend. "Yeah, so Tera is not really my girl, it's more of a business proposal"

"Whatever, man, you have got serious p***y mojo. If you want a girl she is yours."

Alex snorted and drank more. "She doesn't like me like that, she told me herself tonight, she is just doing what she was paid to do"

"you are so full og s**t, you know that right?" Jeremy walked over to the refrigerator and took a beer of his own popping it open and took a swing. "She almost cried when yoi were cannusling with Jean at the memorial. She is into you"

Alex 's heart threatened all sorts of dramatic gymnastics at his friends words. He stares into his beer bottle

"Why didn't you tell me she is an escort, a pretty smart escort?" Jeremy asked "and by the way she likes you, but she thinks nothing can ever happen between you two because she is ana escort and you are a f*****g billionaire. She said it would ruin your reputation if people knew"

Alex took a long drag of his beer.

"really, did she say that to you, what else?"

"Why didn't you tell me man, i thought we are friends"

"i didn't want you to judge her based on that, i wanted to give you an honest opinion about what you think of her"

"Man escort or not that woman is perfect for you, i mean she is amazing she is pretty smart too and beautiful, she is not like the usual women you roll with. If you don't wife her i just might. The woman is all that."

Alex laughed and the two of them spent a moment contemplating their beers.

" Yeah man the woman is driving me nuts, i don't know what am going to do, with Jean"

Jeremy downed the rest of his beer and he pulled out his phone to check the time

" Man, i need some few hours of sleep, and am just going to say this about Jean. You have been down that road before , you know how it ends and it's never good so why go down a path you already know the ending?"
